Retirement :: B. Parker

Posted By:  Parker 1st MRB @ Sep 3 2010, 01:44 AM
Name: Parker, Benjamin

Rank: Major

Reason for Retirement:

I feel it’s my time to step down as Major and Commanding Officer of the 1st Marine Raider Battalion. Like most things in life it’s had its ups and downs, but I can say with all certainty that the good outweigh the bad. Bear with me if I start the cliché statements because they need to be said. When I left my previous unit after 2 years it really left a mark, a unit that I put so much time and effort into and a unit I made so many friends in. I thought I would never be able to look past it even if I tried.

On March 21st, 2009 I started the 1st MRB with former 1stLt. Kirkendall. Knowing nothing about the future of this newly created unit we took a chance. Within minutes of putting on our 1st MRB tags for the first time we had several people enquiring about our new unit. After about a week we already had 17 members, all whom new both Kirkendall and myself in our previous unit. A few days after that we held BCT Class 101, the first ever for the 1st MRB and it consisted of members like WO. M. Swartz, former GySgt. Jasko, former Cpl. Fong and former Cpl. W. Myers. The unit was looking up and was growing everyday until it finally took off when we saw Capt. Yamagata, 1stlt. Zahl, 1stLt. Englebretson, 1stLt. Ford, CWO. Swartz, GySgt. Warren, MSgt. Gooderham, former GySgts Weimert and Lehman, and of course SSgt. Sorely. These were and have been the core of the unit since it began. Everything you do, everything you learn and the way you act in this unit have been influenced by the brilliance of all these men. I can’t believe to this day what this unit has become, I really can’t. It’s more than I expected and it was an enjoyable adventure. Unfortunately mine stops here, I’ve made new friends and strengthen the bond with old ones.

Yamagata you are the most calm, cool and collective person I’ve met and it has been an honor running this unit with you all these days. I won’t forget our late night/early morning vent discussions on Japanese culture and looking at absurd youtube videos. You do TOO much for the unit which no one ever sees because you do the little things that make this unit run so smooth. You have always had my back, you’ve always done what was best and you’ve always been a great friend. It’s been an honor having you as my XO and as a friend.

Kirkendall you’re as stubborn as a mule but I had fun times creating this unit with you bud, you’re one talented individual when it comes to computer games. I’ll never forget our pub matches where you stayed in spawn and camped because you were afraid to wear my bitch tags, oh wait or was that me? Haha good times man. It’s truly been a privilege running this unit with you.

Englebretson I’ve really watched you become an amazing leader since you helped create the 1st MRB. I’ll never forget our great sports debates we had every night discussing all kinds of crap that made us both laugh. Anyways, you’ve been a great friend and a great 1stLt. You’ve put hours and hours into this unit and you’ve never asked anything for it back. It’s been fun old friend.

Zahl you’re my Norwegian brother from another...continent. No seriously you’re the coolest European I know and you’ve become a great friend. I will never forget the day you almost had a heart attack playing dod…just calm down you got this. I’ll miss you buddy, it’s been an honor.

Ford you’re not really an asshole, but you are a dick! You’ve truly done outstanding works of art for this unit that gave it that unique feel. You’ve put a lot of hours and money into making this unit the best. I’ll never forget those drunken nights where you pulled everyone in vent into one channel and then yelled at them for not being in one channel to begin with! It’s been an honor running this unit with you by my side. You always had my back and for that I thank you friend.

Swartz Twins you guys are amazing. There’s no one else who can get shit done and have fun doing it. Even though you’re ghosts on the forums, you’re presence in the servers is well known. You guys lead, kick ass and take names every time you enter the server. You guys are the coolest twins I know and it’s been a blast being with you guys in this unit. I consider you both good friends and I’ll never forget our poker nights!

Francouer a.k.a Sean Connery, thanks again for all the help and support you gave me when I first started out with this. You are an amazing person, a great impressionist, a splendid actor, and most of all a good friend. I hope all goes well with your acting career and I wish you and your family the best of health. It’s been fun my friend.

GMoney, you sir are insane. Dude you gay? HAHAHA seriously though, thank you so much for creating BAR as a support group for the 1st MRB. Without your dedication to the 1st and to BAR both would not be where they are today. We have a top 20 pub, 130 1st members and 23 BAR members and it’s all because of the work and countless hours you put into making our community the best. Thanks so much for all you’ve done and continue to do. You my friend are one of a kind.

I apologize if I missed all those who have been here since the beginning like Gooderham, Warren, Lehman, Wilson, Sorley, Zachow, Le, Wingate, Phan and Dawson. You guys have all done so much for the unit and some of you have continued to do so. Thank all of you for being the backbone of this unit for so long. Thank you for being the definition of a Marine Raider and thank you for being the best bunch of guys I’ve ever played with. You guys are the definition of awesomesauce.

As I previously stated, my journey with you guys ends here, I’ve carried the torch long enough and I’m ready to pass it on. This unit is ready for a new leader and so as my last acts as Commanding Officer of the 1st Marine Raider Battalion I hereby promote

Nick Yamagata to Major and Commanding Officer of the 1st Marine Raider Battalion.

Charlie Englebretson to Captain and Executive Officer of the 1st Marine Raider Battalion.

The retirement will be official the end of September after the transition has been made. Things need to be transfered, learnt, and taken away. These take time so I will be here to make it as easy as I can on the new Command Staff.

The rest I leave up to the new Command staff. Take care 1st Marine Raiders and members of BAR, it’s been the best year and a half I’ve ever spent in any game. You gents and ladies are truly a remarkable bunch of people and to that I say thank you.

*Salute*

Signed,

Maj. Benjamin Parker
Former Battalion C.O.

*NEW* Server Mods

Posted By:  Parker 1st MRB @ Jul 22 2010, 05:55 AM

The 1st MRB is proud to announce its new TK Count system and high ping kicker.

What's this mean for you? Remember those times when you couldn't find an admin to hop in the public server to ban or kick someone? Well now you won't have to with the new TK Count system!

How it works is simple, a player will get banned after a TK count of 5. However, you can reduce your TK count by doing positive things like killing enemies or capping flags. So really what this eliminates is the premature ban on regular players and only bans those dumb ass TKers.

1st MRB guys CLICK HERE for the complete info on all the changes.

Happy Fraggin'

Sincerely,

The 1st MRB Command Staff
