I did not see a music thread so i decided to start one. Just put down what kind of genres you enjoy and some of your favorite bands. If you are a musician I would love to hear what you play and kind of or set-up you have. I really hope we can have some great debates. And Maybe some musical pointers from more experienced players.

For Music, I enjoy just about every genre you can think of. From Classical to the most brutal metal out there.
My favorite artists are:
Bach
Rachmaninov
Tchaikovsky
Bruch
Bethoveen
Strauss
Carlos Santana
Children of Bodom (Great Melodic Metal, but they sold-out :-/)
The Black Mages ( final fantasy band with nobou uematsu on keys)
Fleetwood Mac
Pink Floyd
Sublime
The Rolling Stones
The Cranberries
AC/DC
Jimi Hendrix
Mushroomhead
Dir en Grey (japanese metal)
Sex Machineguns (japanese metal band)
Maximum The Hormone (japanese rock band)
Korn
Big Elf
Metallica (before black album)
Dying Fetus (amazing live)
Hatebreed (they are from my hometown used to work with an ex-drummer)
Dimmu Borgir
Cradle of Filth
Opeth
Alice in Chains
WHITE Zombie ( and some rob zombie songs, but hes so great live)
The Great Frank Sinatra
AND THE ALL MIGHTY PANTERA!!! R.I.P Dimebag Darrell

I have been playing guitar for three years now and Ive just started really tweaking my sound and equipment.
I have two guitars, A Fender stratacaster (mexican) and an LTD MH-100 which i mostly play on.
My main amp is a Line-6 flexitone 3 (120watt 2x12) which i don't have the pedal for, and i also have a Roland cube amp(30watts 1x8). I am slowly building up a pedal collection as well. I have( all boss) a Metal Zone (don't really like), Super Chorus, and an Overdrive pedal. Usually I have the guitar running from the pedal station, into the Line6, and use my Roland as a pre-amp. I can get some really cool sounds out of it, the cheesy flanger mode on both my amps kind of cleans up a bit and sounds a lot better. I am self-taught, and mostly make up songs to play. I record the ones I like, but recently lost that hard drive.

I know its alot to read, but I am very into music and would really love to hear what the people in this unit enjoy. Hopefully we can all turn each other on to some new music and ideas. Perhaps also a conversation about music today, and the tragedy of not having a memorable main stream band/artist out there.

I'd consider myself an unpracticed violinist (almost 3 years no practice). But I was in school orchestras for 10 years, 1st Violin or 2nd Violin section leader sometimes. I was concertmaster twice in the orchestra, and concertmaster a few chamber groups. I've tried playing recently and my sense of tone and my vibrato is has really suffered. It looks like you almost have an eclectic of taste as I do.

Classical:
Dvorak
Bizet
Stravinsky
Vivaldi
Mozart
Beethoven
Schubert
Hans Zimmer
J.S. Bach
John Williams
Peter Schickele
Tchaikovsky
Chopin
Greig
Rachmaninov
Wagner
Debussy
Gershwin
Phillip Glass

Other:
AC/DC
Animals
Beatles
Black Sabbath
Bobby Day
Bobby Darin
Boston
Bob Dylan
Cake
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Brian Setzer
Flogging Molly
Fog Hat
George Thotogood
Foreigner
Jimi Hendrix
Johnny Cash
Kinks
Led Zeppelin
Louis Armstrong
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Marlene Dietrich
Metallica
Nirvana
The Offspring
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Pink Floyd
Queen
Ramones
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rolling Stones
The Who
Smash Mouth
Squirrel Nut Zippers
The Pillows
They Might Be Giants
Tom Petty
Vera Lynn
Weezer
White Stripes
ZZ Top
Van Halen
Bing Crosby
The Ink Spots
The Four Tops
加藤登紀子 (Tokiko Kato)
Benny Goodman
Glen Miller

Yep, that pretty much describes my music taste, although I know I left some out. wink.gif

I like Big Band, Classical, and Classic Rock as well as some Punk Rock or Indie Rock. I will not listen to Rap, Beastie Boys is borderline for me.

That is really cool man. I love just about every style although i do not dip to far into each genre, classical music is brilliant and full of life. I would have to say my favorite piece would be rachmaninov's piano concerto #2.

My favorite is Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E Minor "From the New World"

4th Movement is my favorite part of the symphony, not because it sounds like Jaws, just the total energy of the movement is amazing.
