  1. Hey all I was going to post this in the slope but I realized that the topics of guns can get political really quickly so i posted here for good measure. Personally I do not have a problem with young children shooting guns as long as they are taught the proper way to handle a firearm. i came across this video and thought it was pretty interesting and I was not surprised with peoples reactions at all. Some say this video is a little bias because it was done in the great free American state of Texas which is filled with patriotic red blooded Americans. A state where i can go into my local Walmart and buy a gun in less than 8 hours. Guns are sold at our Walmarts and so is ammo. I am used to seeing this type of thing all the time. I go to a range and see 12 year old boys with dad shooting their shotguns. To me shooting with dad is an American pastime older than playing catch in the park. I have never had any problems with young people learning to shoot I myself learned to shoot a .22 when i was 6 and I have been shooting ever since. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of this especially our foreign MRB members who gun laws may differ than ours.
  2. I remember we used to play this game a lot back in the day with candy, McDowell and a whole bunch of other people from the unit . It was always a lot fun.
  3. They kicked ass in Iraq and Afghanistan. The us is starting to push back into Iraq again. Afghanistan isn't as hot as it was years ago. Iraq is where the fight is right now.
  4. The war in fallujah is still going on. US forces are pushing back into Iraq. My unit is heading back there next September to relive the 101st airborne. There has already been 3 battles for fallujah expect 2 of which involved american forces a 4th one.
  5. 1. depending on what state youre in that dictates how easily you can obtain a gun. For example i live in the great free state of texas so i can walk into walmart buy a shotgun and walk out with it the same day assuming i pass the background checks. In texas i can buy as many guns as i want in one purchase without being flaged unless they are two different types of weapons. So if i want to buy 3 shotguns im in the clear however if i want to buy 2 shotguns and a handgun i might get flaged for review. even if i do get flaged it does not do anything it just means the application will take a bit longer. 2. Americans love guns thats why. People also feel the need to own guns for protection. I live in a country where in some states you can be waiting over 25min for local law enforcement to respond. A lot can happen in that time. we also use them for fun and other things like hunting. I feel america has a huge gun culture. For example Germany and the USA, while on the surface quite similar (both western, christian, wealthy industrial nations), are in fact vastly different culturally. The USA is a very young nation and it was literally born out of revolution and war. The fight against an oppressive government and oppressive people has shaped and defined our nation and a distrust of government is one of the big pillars of our culture. Additionally the USA, in my opinion, has a somewhat violent and aggressive culture, some might call it a 'Wild West spirit'. I think most US citizens would generally agree with the sentiment that a 'real American' does not take any shit, stands up for himself and would rather take someone's life or give up his own than have someone tread on him or his rights ('My home is my castle', 'From my cold, dead hands'). I have found that American citizens are much more prone to support vigilante justice, even if that 'justice' comes in the form of deadly force. A while ago, I saw an article online about a shooting at a courthouse in germany . A man shot and stabbed two people to death who were accused of seriously injuring the man and killing his brother in a rather shady car trafficking deal gone wrong.I expected most people to react with disgust at someone taking the law in his own hands like that. Instead, most Americans supported the man and congratulated him on killing those two men.
  6. Hey all. It's me ol Ssgt ascencio. I've been gone for so long and have been so busy I have not been able to keep up with forums stuff. I just wanted to say my life had been good and I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of being in the army. Crazy right? It's hard to think it's been about 11 months since I left. A lot of things have changed for me. I'm actually at Fort polk in Louisiana with the 10th mountain division. Due to me moving and spending so much time in training. I have not had a chance to bring my computer with me. But that will change soon. I should be getting my computer and have a steady Internet connection in early September. Until then I will be on the forums as much as possible. There are so many new faces and people that have gotten promoted. I miss the community and I'm glad to see that the community is still going strong and that a lot of the people I started out with are still in the unit doing good things! I'm so excited to be coming back in September and getting back to playing. Time has just flown by and so many things around me are changing. Id like to thank those of you who were behind me since day one when I set out on my journey to be a united States army cavalry scout! Me in the old army acus My sabers. We received these after our final 12 mile ruck March. It's the mark of a true cavalry scout Graduation day!
