How does your rank system work?

The ranks structure of the 1st MRB contains ranks from Recruit up to Lieutenant Colonel. Following the chain of command, a term that will become very familiar in our unit, we start at the bottom and move up the line:

  • The Recruits are new members that have yet to pass our required Basic Combat Training. At the bottom of the food chain, these unit greenhorns are watched closely as they learn the ropes, they are not considered full-fledged 1st Marine Raiders until they meet the approval of their Drill Instructors.
  • The Enlisted ranks (Private and Private First Class) make up the bulk of the unit and help keep our unit active. Still fairly new to the unit, the enlisted ranks are constantly learning and improving their skills which ends up opening limitless opportunities throughout the unit. The Enlisted Ranks report to the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and up.
  • The Non-Commissioned Officers (Corporal to Staff Sergeant) are the backbone of the unit, their leadership skills help maintain order in the unit. The NCOs also hold the majority of the Staff Positions to aid the running of the unit. The NCOs report to the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and up.
  • The Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (Technical Sergeant to Sergeant Major) solely maintain the training and discipline of the unit. These seasoned veterans are an endless source of knowledge and skill that is utilized by the entire unit. The SNCOs report to the Officers.
  • The Junior Officers (Warrant Officer and Chief Warrant Officer) are new officers that have proved themselves as SNCOs and have earned higher rank. These officers are part of the command staff and require as much respect as the commissioned officers. Responsibilities include supporting the commissioned officers and maintaining the company staff offices.
  • The Officers (Second Lieutenant to Lt. Col.) of the unit make up the unit's Command Structure, they maintain almost every aspect of the entire unit as well as the servers. The Commissioned Officers are in charge of communicating with other units, organizing the staff structure, and even maintain the unit's treasury. Having held ranks from Enlisted to SNCO, our Officers have earned their way to the top and know what they are doing. From morale to discipline, our Officers work to keep the unit alive and organized.
