What are weapon restrictions and why do you have them?

NOTE: At this time Recruits are subject to weapon restrictions.

Weapon restrictions mean that a person’s rank corresponds to certain weapon classes they are allowed to play with on Day of Defeat. For example, as a Recruit you are only allowed to use the rifle class, but as you go up in rank you are able to use other weapons corresponding to your rank. As a Recruit you can also PTU (Permission to Use) any weapon you want as long as you have a positive score, meaning having more kills than deaths. Only Staff Sergeants and above have the ability to grant or deny a PTU. If you PTU and no response is giving, it means that it has been denied. Staff Sergeants and above have no weapon restrictions. We DO NOT have these restrictions to torture you, they are there so that you get better and more familiar with each weapon class. During a realism you have to be able to use any weapon to the best of your ability when needed and having weapon restrictions accomplish that. We know it can get hard and boring/tiring using the same weapon(s) all the time, which is why we have Permission to Use (PTU) rights. You can learn more about PTU rights in Basic Training. In addition, we allow our members (Pvt. and up) to apply for Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training for all weapons, passing these classes allows you to use an otherwise restricted weapon without the need to request PTU.
