  1. I'm getting rid of Brodeur, who wants him...?
  2. SLI (Nvidia) or Crossfire (ATI) have their pros, as well as cons. Im currently running 2 GTX 275's in SLI. Some games like it, some games don't understand there are two cards, and some games just flat out don't support more than one GPU. Add to that the extra headroom required to run a second card and there goes your electric bill, not only to support the larger PSU, but the air conditioning to keep the room cool from all the added heat. My room my computer is in is a good 15 - 20 degrees warmer than the rest of my apartment. Nice in the winter, atrocious in the summer. If you are planning on running dual GPU's, I wouldn't do it with older cards like the 9800. While they will work, you would be better off running one GTX 460 (example) for 200 bucks or less than buying a second 9800 for 100 bucks. The GTX 460 would smoke both of those cards without even sweating. Also, the whole "is it cost effective" question arises. Would it be cheaper to just get a top of the line card and run it solo or upgrade your PSU and pay for two cards. I already had a 1000W PSU installed in my rig so the second card was the only additional purchase I had to make. *Edit* PSU = Power Supply Unit. GPU = Graphics Processing Unit. Sorry, I forget how much of a nerd I am sometimes.
  3. Just a side note Dillon. Since the only servers that run 100 tick have to do so by using a plugin (which screws most of them up) most servers, Id say 95% or better use 66 tick. The recommendation these days is to set your: cl_updaterate 66 cl_cmdrate 66 Also as that article I posted explains, the only safe number to adjust in your settings is the rate. "Clients usually have only a limited amount of available bandwidth. In the worst case, players with a modem connection can't receive more than 5 to 7 KB/sec. If the server tried to send them updates with a higher data rate, packet loss would be unavoidable. Therefore, the client has to tell the server its incoming bandwidth capacity by setting the console variable rate (in bytes/second). This is the most important network variable for clients and it has to be set correctly for an optimal gameplay experience. The client can request a certain snapshot rate by changing cl_updaterate (default 20), but the server will never send more updates than simulated ticks or exceed the requested client rate limit." Rate 25000 as an example. That command tells the server how many bytes/sec your bandwith can handle. So 25000 would be 24.41kb/sec. Obviously, we all can handle 24kb/sec on broadband connections, so the safe assumption here would be to set our rates to a higher number. However, some servers limit the amount of clients rates. I set mine at 40000. Not saying that is best for everyone, but I don't notice any lag or registry difference by going lower than that. Just a couple of pennies from me.
  4. For the nerds: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/So...ayer_Networking It helps explain, if you understand what they are saying, how lag, lag compensation, rates, lerp, hit boxes, and what have you are handled by Valve games. Pretty interesting read if you're into that sort of thing.
  5. I see an Asian guy and a Black guy, you think Asians are white? Racist bastard.
  6. Observe and Report, great movie. "You killed my... my..." "Your what?" "My..." "Your fuckin' what? Huh? Your what, bitch?" [puts gun to his own head] "I'll shoot myself in the head, you can tell me that cat's name! Go ahead! Your what? Your precious, little... " "Skippy! Skippy! " "Oh, Jesus! What color was it, bitch?" "Don't you fucking yell at her like that you prick!" "Shut your fat-ass, Rayvie! I can't go buy a pack of smokes without runnin' into nine guys you've fucked!"
  7. Got the new headset in this morning... gotta say, playing Dod:s in 7.1, yes there is a setting for that amazingly, is nothing short of awesome. Hands down the best headset I have owned to date. Although, vent, with 7.1 turned on is kind of freaky. Sounds like people are in the middle of my head talking to me. Had to turn it off for vent, otherwise, I'm very pleased with this set.
  8. You should be more worried about being a dumbass than gaining my approval. I have no idea Jasko... Office Space? "We're in the spirit world asshole"
  9. Anchorman "What the fuck are you bitches babbling about?"
  10. The Blues Brothers. "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning."
  11. Hopkins, yet again you have failed... read the original post before replying for a third time. Btw... Harvey's quote was from Blazing Saddles. "Obviously you are not a golfer"
  12. A new spray!
  13. Apartment: $1100.00 a month. Parties: $200.00 each. Getting strange looks from the polite yet annoying upstairs neighbors: Priceless. Yes, Canadians are like the people that live upstairs from a really awesome party, that is the analogy here.
  14. This picture makes no sense... The red player already won the game, he has 4 in a diagonal pattern, why are they still playing? Pretty sure that makes Ritchey lose by default.
  15. Wait... We are allowed to have bears arms? When did this come about???
  16. That's a great idea. Here's the problem: I put them on the ground because I'm lazy. Being lazy makes me like your idea about a hook, but lack the motivation to go find a hook or hook like apparatus to attach somewhere on my desk. I've already ordered the wireless headset, should be here Tuesday. Maybe between now and then I can find something to hang them on. I probably won't even look though. Again, I'm lazy.
  17. So in the last year, I have owned 5 headsets. The first, a Fatal1ty gaming headset. Loved it, unfortunately my dog also loved it and ate half of the cord. The second, I stepped on breaking the earpieces in twain. (still works, but duct tape sticks to hair apparently) The third, I set on the ground and as I walked past my pc I tripped on the cord, snapping it in two pieces. The fourth, I set on the ground and as I walked past my pc I tripped on the cord and ripped the line out of the usb jack. The last one, this morning I set it on the ground and as I walked past my pc, well... you get the idea. I have a bad habit of doing that. Soooo, I opted for these babies: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...99&Tpk=g930 No Wires!!! No cord to trip on!!! No cord for my dog to chew!! Plus they are 7.1 surround, which should be awesome for newer games that will utilize that more. Hopefully these will last more than a month.
  18. Hi, I'm last years post. Nice to meet you. http://www.1stmarineraiders.com/index.php?showtopic=1486
