  1. In this economy, I don't think being too picky is an option - at least not for me. I've been out of work for too long - I'd take anything that pays decent. That said, What do you WANT to do? What do you ENJOY doing? Are you looking for a career or just 'pocket change' to pay a few bills & such?
  2. Woke up once on a friends couch, still wearing my halloween costume (my MX riding gear, helmet and all)... I was late for diving practice. I got there hungover as shit - so coach said "sprint to the other side of the basketball court, 12 pushups, sprint back" I thought "alright, easy." Then he added "do it over and over and over until I say stop"... and he walked away to go hit the weights. For the next 30 mins I was doing sprints/pushups. Needless to say, I stopped twice to hit the john and puke. I stopped partying so hard after that unless I was sure we didn't have 6am practice the next day (which isn't often since swimmers/divers have 2-a-days 5 days a week, all year)
  3. Yes, sir. My apologies. I had shift-tabbed out and was posting. When I came back, he was gone. I figured he had disconnected on his own.

  5. You gentlemen are most likely: A ) uploading/using formats that are NOT supported by DoD B ) uploading/using incorrect formats The BEST/IDEAL format/size is a .vtf image, NO LARGER than 256x256. Wondering where to find .vtf images? You have to use a plugin that is available for most photo-editing software around. If you're interested in using the .png .jpg .bmp .gif formats - your sprays will look a LOT less clear, and far more pixelated. Text will be hard to read. If you guys need further instruction on how to properly go about installing sprays, feel free to hit the quartermaster forums and check out my instructions. See below: STEP 1: You download the .vtf file from the link above. Find the file you downloaded - and right click on it Select -> COPY STEP 2: Open up the Start menu and click on Computer, or click on 'My Computer' on your desktop Open the folder called 'Program Files' Open the folder called 'Steam' (or might be called Valve) Open the folder called 'Steam Apps' Open the folder that has your account name on it Open the folder called 'day of defeat source' Open the folder called 'dod' Open the folder called 'materials' Open the folder called 'VGUI' (if you don't see this folder, jump to the 'OPTIONAL STEPS' below) Open the folder called 'logos' Right click on an empty space in the folder Select "PASTE" and the .vtf file will be placed in the logos folder. Open the folder called 'UI' Right click on an empty space in the folder Select "PASTE" and the .vtf file will be placed in the UI folder. You are almost done! STEP 3: Start up day of defeat, but do not enter a server. Select Options Select Multiplayer tab Click 'Import Spray' Find the 'logos' folder where you pasted the .vtf in the steps above Select your spray - click 'OK' Click 'Apply' or 'OK' Enter your favorite server, spray on the first wall you see and enjoy. OPTIONAL STEPS: ****If you are following the directions above and do not see a folder called 'VGUI' - follow these steps**** **When done with these steps, continue to step 3** Right click on any empty space in the 'materials' folder Select "New" and select "Folder" from the list Rename the new folder 'VGUI' Open the new folder called 'VGUI' Right click on any empty space in the 'VGUI' folder (it should be empty at this point) Select "New" and select "Folder" from the list Rename the new folder 'logos' Open the new folder called 'logos' Right click on an empty space in the folder Select "PASTE" and the .vtf file will be placed in the logos folder. Right click on any empty space in the 'logos' folder (it should be empty at this point) Select "New" and select "Folder" from the list Rename the new folder 'UI' Open the new folder called 'UI' Right click on an empty space in the folder Select "PASTE" and the .vtf file will be placed in the UI folder.
  6. Hey everyone, Figured I'd pass on the news for those of you in the market for a new headset (or considering the possibility). The Fatal1ty Headset (by Creative) is a $100 headset, and highly regarded by gamers everywhere. It's on sale on NewEgg under their "shell shocker" deals today for $35. Check into if you are in the market!
  7. I started listening to some Mew stuff the other day at your recommendation... some of their stuff I REALLY dig! Some of it I was like 'is this the same band?' hahaha Very cool though, thanks for the recommendation!
  8. Hey guys, Lately (as in the past few years) I've been getting more and more into ambient music. For the longest, I was strictly Aphex Twin. I have been enjoying his music for over a decade now. But lately I've been getting more into other ambient bands... Stars of the Lid Mogwai Tortoise Eluvium ..and more. I've also been getting into kinda ambient/rock stuff too... Russian Circles Godspeed! You black emporer etc. Anyone else here into that sorta thing?
  9. Thanks for the write-up sir! I just figured the increased popularity of the server had us seeing more griefers, but having lost our previously banned ID's makes a lot more sense as to the high amount we've had lately!

  11. I agree! Bill Cosby, also HILARIOUS if you like old school. I really like Steven Wright, Mitch Hedberg, Mike Burbiglia, Jim Gaffigan, Jeff Dunham, and a few others whose names escape me right now. I also enjoyed Dane Cook before he was big and you'd heard every joke 10000 x's.
  12. Your issue looks like a CSS/HTML issue to me, most likely caused by a browser version. Internet explorer is famous for always being very behind the times when it comes to compatibility with most web formatting stuff, so that might be the issue.
  13. Your fiance is hot! How old is he? (seewhatididthere?) ha!
  14. Okay, so for all intents and purposes this crash looks to be causing loss of input from the keyboard as well. And the Crash Logs point to video card... hmm... What kind of video card do you have? What's the date on your drivers? Also, Hijack This, has been around for a LONG time.. It's like a staple program for people looking to clean up/speed up their PC's. Because it's like an 'ultimate cleaner' in the fact that when you tell it to get rid of something - it's permanent. You shouldn't be worried about it - you can do research on it to see it's a legit program. It is not like a lot of programs that just 'partially delete' stuff, or 'quarantine' something, this completely erases it. It's gone. That's why it's such an effective program and so many people like it - it doesn't pussy foot around. It gets down to business. That's also why you should only use it if you know what you're doing. That's why I like that log translater so much - it takes out the work for you - it literally tells you what is 'nasty' and should be deleted, and which stuff is fine to keep on your HD. Also the Glary Utilities program is very user friendly, and also just as good about cleaning up/fixing registry errors that might cause nasty slowness and/or crashing.
  15. What OS are you running? XP-64? Vista-64? Win7-64? Windows 7 will support so much RAM it's RIDICULOUS (like, up to 128 GB or something). And with RAM being so cheap these days, most people shove as much as they can (it's sick to see people running 12 GB +). I'm not sure on the other specs of your system, but there could be bottlenecks elsewhere. I run 3GB of RAM with Vista (yuck), and have no issues when using Photoshop/AfterEffects/etc. Often I'll have Photoshop up with other stuff such as Eclipse (Java), Dreamweaver and other programs or games without any noticeable performance degradation. So I would figure 4GB would be more than effective at handling that stuff. However - I think know there are ways to adjust RAM timings - but it's complicated and it's also my understanding that you can really eff up some stuff if you get it wrong. I wouldn't recommend that. With how cheap RAM is these days, if your system will take 8 GB? Toss in 8 GB and don't worry about it. Sure beats messing something up and starting from square 1 with having to repurchase RAM you might screw up trying to OC.
  16. Well, I have seen it where overheating has lead to beeping on certain mobo's. My old PC was that way - when I first built it and was tinkering with the water cooling, there was a couple times where it overheated. It shut down completely, and when I turned it back on, it beeped and would shut down again until it had time to 'cool off'. Do you run any mods or anything in your game? If Teamspeak still works occasionally, that is interesting. Do you use a 'push to talk' with Teamspeak? If so, it would still be registering the keyboard (and probably mouse as well) which would point to perhaps something video related. Have you given your Computer a good dusting out with compressed air? (I imagine you probably have - but I gotta ask) Also, Have you attempted to close down as many programs as you can while running the game to minimize the risk that it might be some sort of software colliding with the game itself while running? That might be the easiest way to troubleshoot first and foremost. Close down absolutely EVERYTHING you can that's running (and check your process' for extra junk you don't need) and play the game. Still crash? Okay then - we'll have to look into something else. OR, Are you familiar with hijack this! ? There are two programs I've found that work amazingly with one another - one is called Glary Utilities found here: http://download.cnet.com/Glary-Utilities/3...4-10508531.html This does a great job of fixing bad registry errors that can sometimes cause weird computer crashes/issues. Hijack This can be found here: http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-Hijac...4-10227353.html You can use hijack this to get a log of your system, and copy/paste that log output into this website: http://www.hijackthis.de/ It will tell you which registry keys are bad or need to be removed. I've used those two programs with GREAT success in speeding up a lot of slow machines. Not sure if it would definitely fix the issue, but worth a shot if you haven't tried them already.

  19. Does it beep when it freezes/shuts down? I believe if it was an overheating issue it would beep repeatedly when you try to reboot it right away, or it beeps just prior to shutdown (although I don't think so). Have you checked/updated your video drivers? How about your audio drivers? If not, I recommend checking there and making sure that your drivers are up to recent date.
  20. What kind of error message does it give you? Anything? Or do you just DC?
  21. Gio, I have seen where outdated video drivers can cause MASSIVE random lag spikes, and also disconnects, etc. As Mitchell pointed out, there are programs that can eat up your bandwidth and cause massive in game lag as well - anti-virus programs, downloading programs, bittorrents, etc. Make sure those are all turned off, and try gaming with those turned off to see if it's something like that causing the issue first. If that doesn't resolve the issue, the next step would be to check some of your drivers - the most typical culprits are video with sound a close second. Are you using Windows XP? Vista? 7? You can check driver dates by opening your Device Manager. On Vista/7 you can get there by right clicking on My Computer -> select Properties -> Device Manager is on the left hand side. I believe on XP the process is fairly similar. Once in the Device Manager - click on the + next to the Display Adapters and you will see your video card displayed (the make/model) Right click on your video driver and select "Properties" On the next screen select the "Driver" tab at the top - then you can see the driver version, and the driver date. If it's older than 6 months, it's a good idea to update. To update the driver, go to the manufacturers website and do a search for your make/model They will have you download a .exe file that takes care of everything else After updating you'll be prompted to reboot your computer most likely... and I've found that it's always a good idea after the reboot, to open up device manager, and check the driver date again, to make sure the driver update was applied appropriately. Once that's done, try playing again and see if some of the lag spikes are gone. If they're not - try the same thing for your audio drivers. If the lag spikes are STILL not gone, then we can reassess the situation at that time. Let me know if any of this helps.
  22. I agree, texting and driving is dumb. Usually when I see people doing that, I'll admit - I'm a dick. I honk, flip-em-off, cut 'em off, brake check them, etc. Anything to get them to put down their phone and pay attention. My house is in a culdesac and my boys ride their bicycles around out there (I'm out there with them). And I tell you, sometimes even people pulling into their driveways are HAULING ASS!! I usually give them the 'evil eye' - I've even had words with one guy. If one of them ever hit my kid, you'd bet your ass 911 would be called, and the driver would need an ambulance.
  23. Yea, As Bennett said - if someone is shot, it's fine. But if someone is shot and dies, it DC's everyone. The pubber (AA)Metro said that late last night the same thing happened to him on another server, but he figured just his connection dropped. So it looks like this is a continuation of the fallout of the Steam update. Sucks - because this makes it unplayable.
  24. I remember back in the day (way back now that I think about it), my buddy got into it HEAVILY. I collected the cards in order to play, but never actually played with anyone. I didn't have too many cards - but my buddy was a full on nut for it. Had hundreds of dollars invested, and had cards worth thousands. One day, his cards got stolen out of his car, he never bought another pack or played ever again. I still have my cards... in fact, just moved the box they're stored in the other day!
  25. Are you sure it wasn't "shoe polish"?? Happy b-day!
