  1. While I got to 6 twice in a row - I'm suddenly reminded of why I hated that game years ago when it was on break.com Because sometimes your cursor is right where it should be, but it doesn't register as a hit. Ridiculous.
  2. I almost made it to the end of that before briefly passing out. Hang on, gotta change my ta... my socks.
  3. After looking around - there is a good amount of debate about the math behind it all (depending on certain circumstances etc.) It seems there's a lot of general consensus you should switch, however I found this: http://math.ucsd.edu/~crypto/cgi-bin/Monty...s/monty2?0+3083 -- people who switch lose more than those who don't. However, I'm not exactly sure how accurate those numbers are considering the negatives in there (although I imagine that is due simply to a syntax error in the code and the stats are probably realistic/accurate for those who've taken the test). All I know is - I'm glad I'm not 14 anymore.
  4. Also, a riddle: There is a locked room upstairs (assume this light emits no light when the light inside is lit). You can only go upstairs ONCE, you cannot return to the lower level after ascending the steps. There is 1 lightbulb inside the room wired to one of 3 switches downstairs. You need to figure out which lightswitch controls the lighbulb.
  5. **UNRELATED** Re: Monty Hall Actually, I believe the mathematical probabilities state that sticking with your choice lends you the best odds. They do the whole "do you want to switch" to throw you off. It's been 11+ years since we did the math behind it way back in like Algebra 2 (Sophmore year was a long time ago) but IIRC sticking with your choice is your best bet.
  6. I would do just about anything she asked... my goodness...
  7. No problem, let them know these are quite 'standard' programs in use by IT companies worldwide :-P
  8. BAM! that just happened - solid advice; perfectly put Dillon.
  9. Sure. First and foremost get rid of McAffee. Use Microsoft Security Essentials - it will save your system resources (a ton). MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx Do not install MSE until AFTER we've cleaned up your PC. Second. Download the following utilities: CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner Combofix: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix MalwareBytes: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti...4-10804572.html TDSSKiller: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/TDSSKiller.shtml If you can't get access to the internet from anything on your computer - you'll have to download these things and throw them on a thumb drive - then boot into safe mode so you can access the PC and work on it from there. Combofix can be ran in safemode without issue. Place combofix.exe on the desktop (you'll use it straight from there) Install CCleaner Install MalwareBytes place TDSSKiller.exe on the desktop (you'll use it straight from there as well) Turn off all your Anti-virus programs (yes, all of it) Run Combofix.exe - it will ask you if you want to install the system restore (if you don't have it installed you can click no) It will run through a bunch of process - let it run. Eventually it will reboot your system - LET IT WORK!! When it's finished it will produce a log file - if you want you can post that here, it will say what it deleted/found. Once combofix has finished - open CCleaner You should be on the cleaner tab; go to the very bottom of the menu at the left - select all of the unchecked boxes in the LAST group of settings (the bottom group in the left menu) except for the very last check box (leave it unchecked) - Run the cleaner Close CCleaner Run MalwareBytes - do a quick scan, then if it finds anything (yes, ANYTHING) run a full scan immediately following - reboot if prompted. After your MalwareBytes scans finish close MalwareBytes Open TDSSKiller; run the scan (close when done) Open up CCleaner and select the "Registry" tab Click to scan for issues - it will probably find a lot. Click to 'fix selected issues', create a backup of the registry and save it to C:\ Close CCleaner Run Combofix again - this time it should come back clean. Run MalwareBytes (quick scan) - again it should come back clean. Install Microsoft Security Essentials - let it update and do a scan of your machine - if it finds ANYTHING, run a FULL scan immediately following (it may, but it's pretty unlikely it will find anything - but I have seen it happen) You should be good to go at that point - and you'll be readily protected by Microsoft and their free anti-virus (that does a surprisingly good job of being easy on the resources, and actually protecting your machine). Let us know if you run into hiccups or issues.
  10. I apologize Lockwood. I've been meaning to get back to you but due to a busy schedule haven't been on as much as I would like. See your PM's.
  11. I got the Fatality headset - and it's AMAZING. Super comfy, amazing clarity, just all around well built. Newegg has them on sale sometimes - I picked up this pair for $35! Had I known how amazing they are (they work great for mixing music, too) I would've bought many many more just to have as backups although this pair has lasted me over a year. The mic works fine also and is detachable if you've got people over or don't want to look like a geek with them on around school or work.
  12. It's geeky - but I was pretty excited. Passed my 70-681 today with a 100% (didn't miss a single one!). I finished the test in under 6 minutes too! I'm now certified for Windows 7 and Office 2010 Deployment :-P - Officially a geek, working on trying to earn a good badge of geekdom. I am trying to decide between Sharepoint next, or Exchange. I'd like to do Lync because I help setup the Lync Server we use for our phones at work, but I'm not sure if I can or not (yet). I'm thinking Exchange because it is so common in everywhere that has e-mail (which is basically any company). If you have experience with any of those 3 certs, let me know! ...to add to the true geekdom, at work today everyone was 'excited' to see this really nasty virus that hit a clients PC... oh nerds, we're so dumb (in a good way).
  13. I know a few people who've done the medical bankruptcy thing - a true shame, because they're the nicest family you'd ever want to meet. But because of health conditions of their kids, and their moms health issues, they've had to file bankruptcy - not once, but twice (and almost a 3rd!). I am not much for politics, but have been told I'm kind of socialist minded.
  14. Reminds me of my dog, Amos. Looked very similar. Got him when I was 15 (ish). He lived 14 years... was put to sleep this past summer. He was 'my dog', we'd run for miles and miles training for 5k's, and motocross. We'd swim in the lake together - he was always there. Then when he got older his back got bad... despite knowing he wouldn't be able to get up off the floor once he laid down that evening, he would still go run with me all day if I let him (I didn't because I knew his back would bother him). As I went to college I would visit and he would still come down to my room and sleep beside me. We were for life. He didn't like kids, but when I had my kids? He suddenly became 'kid friendly' and literally put up with everything my kids could dish out (tail pulling, leaning on him when they learned to walk (despite his bad back), climing around on him, laying on him like a pillow... all of it). He was developing a large tumor type growth on his side. I think he laughed inside when we'd call him lumpy. He had watched a number of other dogs come and go... one to a car accident, one to what we believe was some poison it got into in the woods and another that left one night to die alone (that was Pepper, who was around 23 or 24 years old when she finally 'left'). As time grew on, the tumor grew. Then one appeared above his ear, and it got larger and larger... before long when he would itch it would bleed. The poor fella was falling apart. My parents took him in to be put down - they didn't tell me until after it was done. I still feel guilty for not having been there. I also feel guilty about Pepper, she literally raised me! Slept under my crib, let me use her as a pillow when I was just a wee lad, followed me all over the neighborhood as a kid... She outlived I don't know how many other pets and dogs. We knew her time was coming because some nights she'd get real skittish and run off to a remote area of the house and lay in the corner and breath heavily. They say dogs know when their time is coming, and they will 'run away' to die alone. A few weeks later, Pepper did just that. I was 17 and crushed. Pepper and Amos were the 2 best dogs I've ever had in my life. I almost feel guilty having my current dog because she's got big shoes to fill... but she's doing an amazing job. Sorry for the novel, I just still miss my dogs, damnit.
  15. Happy Birthday Parker! Whatever you do - if she says "no, really - it's just a banana in my pocket" - don't believe her!
  16. That's because they're tired of seeing you with your pants at your ankles chasing after their V10 excursion!
  17. People act like we lost some amazing person - there have been far more important people who've died. All the trendy kids act like the Iphones/smartphones wouldn't be around if not for Jobs - how stupid is that? Apple products truly were not any better than anything else - hell half the time they are underdeveloped at release and require constant updating to make them 'as good' as the competitors out on the market. Apples real genius lies in their marketing. Honestly THAT is what has gotten them where they're at - their marketing. I find it sad not that the man died (although cancer is a nasty nasty NASTY thing and I feel for his family and their loss, my condolences) but I feel the true sadness lies in how much people idolize him for creating such mediocre things.
  18. No. Have you ever told a girl (while you're making out, or having sex), "baby, I just wanna plunk it in your butt and pee"?
  19. Negative. Have you ever thought you had to fart, then you start to fart and a little poop slides (or sprays) out into your underwear forcing you to have to change drawers or smell like shit?
  20. Yes, I used to see how much I could get telemarketers to believe. I once had a conversation for a good 5 minutes with one lady about how my mom had been 'abducted by aliens' and was no longer available to take calls. Have you ever willingly taken your pants off and walked home in your underwear?
  21. So, my fiancee teaches at the school down the street and works her ass off there. She deals with lots of little twerps and their annoying parents who think school should be the place their kids go if they feel like it (it's a rich area, so if the kids are 'too tired', their pansy parents let them stay home). Well, there is something called the Chicago Hero award (or something like that) where Chicago honors teachers who go above and beyond the usual duty. Her principal sent in for her to receive this award and she won. I think there are only like 12 winners a year - so it's a pretty cool deal. The letter her principal wrote was really an impressive way to write about her (as if the multiple board salutes she gets every year and personal recognition the Super Intedant gives her at district meetings wasn't enough!) She got 2 free tickets to the Bears game, $1000 for her classroom and some other cool benefits (apparently a pre-game sideline experience, a jersey with her name on it, recognition on the jumbo-tron before the game and more I think). They showed up at her school and she got the award on this past Thursday. I'm pretty stoked for her, she busts her ass all the time and it's cool to see her recognized in such a huge way. She totally deserves it - this will be my first professional game of any sport I've ever been to outside of motocross! Yea, great seats, pregame on the field... it's going to be one helluva day! See you guys later *pictures to come*
  22. I loved watching Marino play. I fucking hate Brady. I'd never wish him to break his legs or anything - but I hope he has a swing for the worse soon.
  23. What flavor of linux? Most of the big distro's are almost identical to Windows these days... Suse, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. Their installers and stuff make getting stuff from the repositories really nice. I'm learning Slackware :-D I've gone command line crazy!
