If you happen to be in the public server and you have admin, then your responsibility is now making sure the pubbers are enjoying the environment. I’m sure most of you enjoy winning the map over and over, but the inverse of this act is that you hate losing over and over. Our pubbers feel the same. As an admin, you have the ability to change the environment and in doing so, promote a better environment for pubbers to continue playing on our server.
What do I mean by changing the environment? We all read Englebretson’s post on how to play in the public server. As an admin, if you notice that teams are “uneven” because one team has fewer players than the other team, you take it upon yourself to swap teams ONLY if the team with fewer players is losing consistently. Here’s an example:
You’re on allies with 14 players; your team has 140 kills and has won the map 3 times now. Axis has 12 players with 90 kills and obviously lost the map 3 times. This is a very obvious example of when to switch teams.
If you’ve taken the NCO course, then you would know that a different player count on both teams does not necessarily mean the teams are uneven. Let’s go back to our previous example and change the data a little bit.
You’re on allies with 14 players, your team has 140 kills. Axis has 12 players with 210 kills and they've won the map already and are about to cap out again. In this example, you would not switch to the other team because that other team is “stacked”. Allies has more players, but Axis has better players. This is another example of team stacking. You would stay on allies and help your team fight for victory.
There are many talented pubbers that join our server and although we strive to improve our skills, there will always be someone better. With that said, there are times when it may appear that the MRB is stacking teams, but in reality it’s not. Let’s look at this last example to help explain what this looks like.
There are 7 MRB players on allies with 120 kills and they've lost twice. There is 1 MRB player on axis with 200 kills and they’ve obviously won twice. If you’re the lone MRB member on axis, you should go ahead and switch teams. It might look like MRB is stacking teams, but in reality you’re making the teams more balanced no matter what your skill level is. If that player isn’t you, then message them and tell them to switch teams.
If you’re still having trouble seeing the concept, think about what map you’re on. Kalt, Donner and Colmar are equal maps designed to give both sides no advantage to winning. If a team is consistently winning on these maps, then there’s an issue with the teams. If allies is winning consistently on Argentan or Foy, look at the teams. These are all good indicators that teams need some help.
What we need you guys to do as admin is either help balance the players or the skill on the teams by switching or asking your fellow members to switch with you. There will be times when this isn’t possible, but we need you guys to place your responsibility as admin above your desire to win on the map. The most important part of this guide is to show you to look at BOTH the amount of players on the team and the kill count. Use your best judgment to get pubbers to stick around. Maps should be back and forth game play, not one-sided winning.
