What video card do you have? This is the single biggest influence on your fps, particularly with the flashlight and smoke grenades. A good config can mitigate some of the slowdowns you are experiencing. We have one stickied and if you need help, please let me know. I can walk you through stuff. Grab me in vent and I'll be happy to get you set up.

Do you get any error? Is it a timeout issue? Any texture corruption or errors in the console?

I'd look at your video card drivers. What video card do you have? There *may* be some corruption there, but its a bit of a long shot. It sounds like the video card is going out.

Those purple and black boxed graphics are a corrupted texture. I wouldn't go quite so far as reformating, but you may want to reinstall DODS overnight. Or, you could install a bloodmod and it should address the blood side of things. Otherwise, you could disable blood.

What brand is your video card? First, download new drivers. www.amd.com or www.nvidia.com Do you know what model of card it is? 9800GT? GTX460 HD4850? If not, you can download gpu-zhere. Download the correct driver, and save it to your desktop. Now, uninstall the old driver. You can find this in your control panel under "Add/Remove Programs" for XP, or under "Programs" in Vista/7. Find the uninstall option for your drivers. Uninstall. Reboot. Install the new drivers (do not let it install a toolbar or demo) Reboot. Should work fine. If you are nervous, grab me in Vent and I'll walk you through it all.

I'm a brown belt in what I like to call Drunken Rampage. In the MMA world, I'd be in the "Tank Abbot"" school of fighting. Because of how bad my knees are, I'm looking for aikido. The kicks and floor-work of most other disciplines would be a bit of a risk for me.

If it came back clean, I'd actually look towards hardware. Its only in Chrome, though? Have you tried to unistall/reinstall it? Also, when it starts to have stability issues, does it throw you a code or BSOD? If so, I need the code. And I do understand it may mean having to write down a 45 character string. Its a PITA, but necessary. If you can replicate it, grab the error. Also, I'll see if I can find a walk through on how to find your error logs. They tend to be more clear and consice then I do. Which version of Windows is it?
