You click on a url to play dods? When I get home from work I will double check how mine looks. Really, these switches are less important than the config.

The config file goes into your cfg folder. I'm at work, but the path is something like c:\program files\steam\steamapps\dod\cfg

With windows 7, if you have a desktop icon, right click on the icon, and paste the switches in the target box.

The launch commands go whereever you launch dods from. If you have a desktop icon, you'll have to let me know what OS you are using. There is a difference between win7, xp, and vista as far as how it works. If you launch it through steam, you'll need to go to Library, then find dods, right click on it and select properties. You can then go to advanced launch options and paste them in.

  6. The Dirty Dozen - Its Lee Marvin, Teli Savalis, Charles Bronson, Donald Sutherland, and Jim Fucking Brown. How could they not be awesome? The Green Berets John Wayne in Vietnam when he's in his 60's, and he doesn't look too out of place. Tora! Tora! Tora! Epic movie. To Hell and Back If you don't know who Audie Murphy is, you need to learn about the most decorated man of WWII. Master and Commander Naval action in the age of tall ships. I have a hard-on for the navy (and the marines they carried) of this time. Love Kelly's Heroes, too.

    You can turn off HDR in game under advanced video settings. Also, here are some things I do: Create a game.cfg file (in notepad and change the extension from txt to cfg) in the same folder as your config.cfg file. Add exec game.cfg into your config.cfg file. This protects your normal binds and everything. If we screw something up, we know we can go back to your default settings. Put this stuff in it: // FPS CONFIG SETTINGS cl_deatheffect_always_on 0 cl_drawmonitors 0 cl_ejectbrass 0 cl_enabledeatheffects 0 cl_enabledeathfilmgrain 0 cl_enablespectatoreffects 0 cl_forcepreload 1 cl_muzzleflash_dlight_1st 0 cl_muzzleflash_dlight_3rd 1 cl_ragdoll_collide 0 cl_ragdoll_fade_time 1 cl_ragdoll_physics_enable 1 cl_show_splashes 0 cl_showhelp 0 cl_showsunvectors 1 mat_bloomscale 0 mat_bufferprimitives 1 mat_bumpmap 0 mat_clipz 1 mat_colorcorrection 0 mat_compressedtextures 1 mat_disable_bloom 1 mat_fastnobump 1 mat_fastspecular 1 mat_filmgrain 0 mat_filterlightmaps 1 mat_forcehardwaresync 0 mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 1 mat_monitorgamma 2.2 mat_parallaxmap 0 mat_specular 0 mat_wateroverlaysize 8 r_3dsky 0 r_avglight 0 r_cheapwaterend 1 r_cheapwaterstart 1 r_decal_cullsize 2 r_decals 0 r_decalstaticprops 0 r_dopixelvisibility 0 r_drawbatchdecals 0 r_drawflecks 0 r_drawmodeldecals 0 r_dynamic 0 r_eyeglintlodpixels 0 r_eyegloss 0 r_eyemove 0 r_eyes 0 r_eyeshift_x 0 r_eyeshift_y 0 r_eyeshift_z 0 r_eyesize 0 r_fastzreject -1 r_flex 0 r_lightaverage 0 r_lod -3 r_maxdlights 0 r_maxmodeldecal 1 r_maxnewsamples 0 r_maxsampledist 0 r_minnewsamples 0 r_modellodscale 0.1 r_occlusion 0 r_phong 0 r_PhysPropStaticLighting 0 r_renderoverlayfragment 0 r_shadowmaxrendered 0 r_shadows 0 r_teeth 0 r_updaterefracttexture 0 r_WaterDrawReflection 0 r_worldlightmin 1 r_worldlights 0 rope_averagelight 0 rope_collide 0 rope_shake 0 rope_smooth 0 rope_smooth_enlarge 0 rope_smooth_maxalpha 0 rope_smooth_maxalphawidth 0 rope_smooth_minalpha 0 rope_smooth_minwidth 0 rope_subdiv 0 rope_wind_dist 0 texture_budget_background_alpha 9999999 texture_budget_panel_height 0 texture_budget_panel_width 0 gl_clear 0 lod_enable 1 mp_decals 0 muzzleflash_light 1 props_break_max_pieces 0 // CPU SETTINGS r_3dnow 1 r_mmx 1 r_sse 1 r_sse2 1 // NETCODE SETTINGS net_graph 3 net_graphpos 2 cl_cmdrate 100 cl_interp 0.01 cl_interp_ratio 1.0 cl_interpolate 0 cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1 cl_lagcompensation 1 cl_smooth 0 cl_updaterate 101 rate 25000 // MULTICORE OPTIONS r_threaded_renderables 1 mat_queue_mode 2 r_threaded_particles 1 r_threaded_client_shadow_manager 1 cl_threaded_bone_setup 1 cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 1 Also, add into your launch commands for Day of Defeat Source (whether desktop or in steam) -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd -heapsize 1048576

I have gamed with a lot of different cards. Your 9600GT is a very solid card for DODS (I used one for nearly a year until I got my 4850). When I play, I generally have good equipment. But, to ensure my best gaming experience here is what I do: All settings down to medium. Sometimes textures will be to high. HDR off - probably the most important setting you can have - it greatly increases your contrast and dark isn't so dark No AA Bilinear My resolution is at 1680x1050. The one thing I wouldn't recommend reducing is your resolution. You see so much more of the game with a higher resolution, that it is worth the trade off in fps. There are also a couple of cvars you can set to utiliize your dual core processor (beyond the simple dual core setting in the advanced graphics). When I get home, I'll find you a couple of good config options. Most of the TF2 configs work (almost) perfect on dods.
  9. Fricken awesome. Are there pdf backups of this? I'd love to see a library/archive of these. Very high quality stuff.
  10. Thank the good lord! I'm going to have to make sure I get my four (or more!) drinks in daily if I want to live long. Disclaimer - Neither I nor the 1st MRB advocate drinking, particularly if you are under legal age in your respective state, territory, city-state, nation, or empire. However, if you are a reasonably attractive individual, please drink as much as possible and make bad choices for/with certain members of 1st MRB.
  11. There is a thread about this in the Medical Supply office. Come on over. There are a lot of good things there. First, find your budget, then we can see what we can do.
  12. Yeah, I did it yesterday and couldn't bring myself to ask about it... I hoped it would expire or something. But yeah, I are smart. And thanks Parker.
  13. So yeah, I went and got myself banned from Ventrilo. No one was on, so I checked a few channels. Mis-clicked one, and clicked to another and voila, I was auto-banned for spamming. If I could get unbanned, it would make joining the Ventrilo server much easier.
  14. Depending on what the cost to get our car fixed, I may drag the wife down there to see it. Sounds intriguing, being oin a container and all. The audience isn't in a container, are they? Oh, and we saw a one may play in SoCal when we went back, thought you would appreciate it. It was at the Little Fish Theatre, the smallest venue I've ever seen... like, seating for 20 or 30 people. Amazingly good show.
  15. Emergency diplomacy? You're a diplomat? Well, talk well and keep your head down. Stay safe. From what I hear from friends, Yemen can be... exciting (not in a good way).
  16. Hot deal. If you are in the market for a new video card, this is a tremendous deal. While I prefer a lot of brands, MSI is a solid company. MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GB GDDR5. This is the price/performance leader for video cards over $200 (post coming in a Medical Office near you!). The thing is, this card is usually $240. On sale for $210. You need to use code FYL5221 and you'll get the discount. Tiger Direct 460 GTX Oh, and free shipping and likely no tax.
  17. This looks like more of a configuration issue than any sort of a setting. I am not sure who handles this, but I think its going to be the Command Staff.
  18. Knee injury cost me a football scholarship to University of Washington to play football. Nothing like having the "have a nice life" conversation a week after finding out your just lost your entire senior year of football. And Gmoney, volleyball is a great sport. I coach it with my wife. Of course, we coach girls club volleyball. Boys volleyball, huh? Grow up in SoCal?
  19. You know what makes this picture awesome? You ever see a normal foul ball/ home run? Half of the people are terrified of the ball and half of them are clawing their way to catch the ball. But look around. No one is looking anywhere. The girl looks like she might even be laughing. This means that the ball was most likely tossed by a player. Nice job, dude. Even your mom thinks less of you now.
  20. Those are pretty good temperatures. Is 40 minutes longer than you are used to? If the new drivers have it fixed (can't remember where it was mentioned), that's awesome!
  21. Contributing factors: Windows pushes out updates monthly Valve pushes out updates occaisionally, breaking a few things over and over again (see: flashlights) Drivers come out regularly to squeak out as much performance as possible It is entirely possible that there are issues that can be introduced through any of these, or through specific interactions between the three. Or it could be a buildup of dust. The card needs a good spary out ever 3-6 months, depending on your climate. Also, NEVER download video drivers through windows update. Always go to ATI or Nvidia.
