Try powering up Steam as administrator. Then, you can continue playing as a normal user if this works

I can open games that I have already played no problem - DOD:S, CS:S, Mirrors Edge, etc... What happens is the game starts and then it minimizes and goes to the task bar... Steam says I am in-game and the game is running in my task manager/processes but every time I click the icon, the screen turns black like it is going to load and then goes back to the desktop. I have tried reinstalling the games, restarting steam, restarting my computer, and running as admin directly from the folders instead of steam. Nothing has worked. I have windows 7.
