  1. congrats guys! i have only been around for a quarter of your existence, but 2 years is a lifetime in gaming terms! you guys run a great pub and even though the unit concept isn't the right fit for me personally, i have loved the server, the members, etc. keep it up and here's to another 2 years!
  2. she was a troll after all. http://thedailywh.at/tag/tamtampamela/
  3. wow people are so dumb.
  4. in a way, you are kind of proving my point; jumping rope takes athletic ability but very little skill. its a task that is mastered by most everyone by age 5. conversely, baseball requires a lot of skill and an above average amount of physical ability. the physical ability is always tough when you had guys like cecil fielder that did so well. but overall baseball does require athletic ability in general.
  5. it also takes skill to play moonlight sonata on piano, but i don't think you'll see pianists lobbying to be called athletes anytime soon. thats really the gray area in these debates most of the time. where do you draw the line between competitions and activities that have participants, and sports that have athletes. to me you have to have that combination of skill and athletic demands. golf just doesn't have that IMO. i have a pretty conservative definition of sports though. i kick out poker, golf, billiards, cheerleading, and pretty much every other gray area.
  6. i like getting vanilla shakes from mcdonalds, and they started that crap a couple months ago. made me super mad. i like my oversized cup of awesome! not some moderately sized cup of awesome!
  7. i played for an hour or so this evening and it seemed just like any other night the last few nights. choppy and lots of rubber banding.
  8. Regarding donner, do they still have donner @ night? I saw on the game banana site that they list avalanche at night. I recall there being a version of donner as well. The reason I bring it up, is that they could be good compromises for people if the server gets low. They are still customs and different enough that it can be fresh, but since everyone knows the maps, you can still get people to stay. Thought I might throw that out there.
  9. even though i am not in the unit, i do enjoy reading these. lots of cool information about the members that are active.

    HELP!

you're right. can't believe i forgot that part. i spent so much darn time making sure i read that word problem correctly, i totally nerfed the easy one!

    HELP!

correct, the "x's" only apply if you had to fully factor the expression. the question is just asking for the common factor of all 3 terms. if the question said to 'simplify' the expression, the answer would be much different. (i won't post it as no need to confuse things!)

    HELP!

    3; all of the terms are divisible by 3; 12/3 = 4, 15/3 = 5, and 51/3 = 17.
  13. felt like a pretty bland deadline day overall. no big time drama like the last few years. will be interesting to see how penner fits in los angeles. interesting to see the jackets finally move klesla. he never seemed to fulfill his potential after being a top 5 pick so many years ago. the wings didn't make any moves as expected. for them, that must mean osgood can make it back as there was talk that if he was going to be out for a while, they would get another backup. while its always exciting to see teams make moves, i feel they have a quality team and am still excited going into the playoffs. with their injuries again this year, getting everyone healthy is just as important as a move.

    HELP!

try y = 3x + 7 perpendicular lines have reciprocal slopes. since your slope is -3 (the 'm' of y = mx+b equation) you just have to use a line with a slope of 3. i kind of feel bad doing your math homework. but i did get my college degree in mathematics and spent several years as a math tutor when i was in college.

    HELP!

gooderham is right about the first part. since he has 55 more, you take them out: 135 - 55 = 80 then you divide the leftover in half since both sides are equal: 80/2 = 40 so since sheep are the higher total, you add the 55 back to them. that gives you 95 sheep and 40 chickens. for the 2nd part, you use the knowledge that chickens stays the same, and then figure from there: chickens = 40 still he has twice as many chickens as cows which means his cows are half the chicken total. so cows = 20 he has 10 more sheep than cows, so that means he has 30 sheep. the total number of animals he now has is 90 (40+30+20)
  16. i agree. like i said, i dont think for them it was an attempt to get better/worse, but to just get something different. though this hockey day in america thing is a joke. they schedule 3 games for a sunday afternoon, yet because nbc has en exclusive window to broadcast, none of the games are on center ice. you can apparently watch online for free. but 1)i dont want to sign up for their stupid gamecenter app so they can spam my email forever and 2)i shouldnt have to watch a crappy quality internet feed when i pay out the wazoo for center ice. /rant
  17. while i certainly don't think my favorite team defines me, i am actually a red wings fan. and before you react to that, it really has nothing to do with my feelings on the leafs. i got into hockey thanks to nhl 94 on sega and the wings were my favorite team to use. so as i got more into hockey they became my favorite team. i know there's lots of wings fans that have an absurd hatred for the leafs. but i wasn't around for the old days, and i think the leafs were only in the east the first couple years i followed hockey. in addition, i was a season ticket holder for the calgary flames ahl team for 2 years. i have attended tons of hockey games in person in all of the american minor leagues (ahl, chl, echl) and try and watch nhl center ice on a nightly basis to catch games. amazingly i will even watch games like panthers-thrashers just to see how the teams are looking. i think you will find i am pretty impartial and rip on the wings when needed as well. anywho, thats enough about me. i guess what I am getting at is that it always seems to be a wait till next year attitiude with the leafs, but they never really get any better. think back to all the offseason hype about the leafs this year; it was the "burke builds from the back end out. they have good goalies, strong defense, and some young exciting forwards" yet giguere and gustavsson both have sub 900 save percentages, beauchemin is gone, phaneuf is still underperforming, guys like lebda and finger are bad contracts that aren't even playing, and even kaberle is now gone. versteeg was given up on and that line with kessel and bozak had some disgusting minus numbers. the leafs are 28th in scoring yet just traded away 2 of their top 6 scorers. they are only 23rd in goals allowed. they are 24th in PP. 26th in PK. there really isn't anything good going right now. and since they are getting picks and prospects back, that means it will be a couple years before things get any better. and i guess what i was getting at with not knowing how trades will turn out is the fact that the leafs are getting guys that are pretty far from the nhl. take for instance the leino trade last year for the flyers. they were getting a guy that was already nhl ready and just needed a change of scenery. yet the leafs aren't picking up lottery picks or guys that are close. gardiner is a 1st rounder, but still in college. i would assume he will need a couple years in the ahl to develop. colborne is a former 1st rounder. and he had decent ahl numbers this year, but is he nhl ready? the first rounder from philly will most likely be in the last couple picks of the round. that spot will mean a player that is several years away. the bostom 1st rounder will most likely be in the bottom 10 of the round. so it won't be a guy thats close. so like i said, they are getting lots of good assets, but they are assets that are not going to pay off anytime soon. also, you are still stickin with lebda??? that seems like such a silly battle to fight. he brings off ice assets? like what? knowing how to ride a good teams momentum? he was generally the youngest and worst player on the blue line his years in detroit. what kind of locker room skills would he have? i am sure his 5 years in detroit consisted of sitting there listening to others. he isn't some 14 year vet with leadership capabilities. and you want an example of a much better FA signing? the wings picked up ruslan salei for less money and he has been very helpful to the team. much better than lebda ever was.
  18. i know that fingers contract was pre-burke, thats why I never once said that it was. notice in my first statement I was talking about bad LEAFS contracts, not bad BURKE contracts. and I went on to reinforce that by saying that burke has not changed the pattern of bad signings. you are going to defend the lebda signing?!?!?!?! he is -17 in only 26 games! he has a whopping 1 point! the worst part? he had no real suitors. the leafs could have signed him for half that with no problem. just because he was a tag along with the wings playing a very sheltered and minor role, don't think that qualifies him to be much of anything especially at his price tag. say what you want about these recent deals, but Toronto is still under .500, 12th in the east, and with a -29 goal differential. and the thing about the trades, is they look good on paper. but so did the phaneuf trade. and the giguere trade. the trades awlays involve picks and prospects and you never know how they will turn out. heck, you can't forget all the people the leafs gave up just to get versteeg. you seem to be really passionate about the leafs which i respect, but there seems to be some blue and white blinders involved.
  19. i would pretend that the leafs know what they're doing but then i think back to the jeff finger contract and the brett lebda contract. burke has great name recognition, but he has done little to change the poor moves that franchise has made in the last decade or so... (i think he's terribly overrated as a GM, but thats a whole different debate!)
  20. the craig anderson for brian elliot trade was pretty significant for the avalanche as well. they have to try and right the ship. not really sure what they did helps right now though.
  21. i am sure not many people care about me, but here are a couple pics of me with Goodwin: (i am on the left in both pics) from 10-15 years ago and from when Goodwin was the best man in my wedding 18 months ago:
  22. we will finish eventually! when goodwin and I were looking for a new game to play around the holidays, I was able to pick up both games for 15 bucks. we figured we might as well play the original first as it might be hard to play the second and then have to go back to the original. similar to DoD, with how cheap it was, its hard to call it a bad deal no matter what. there is even still a decently active online community for trying out those modes.
