  1. If you don't have time to read all of that, i skimmed it for you. Basically, Brown had sex with Richard Bachman... I think that's the congresswoman's husband....
  2. Just throw things at it until it breaks, you can buy a new one tomorrow.
  3. Please research before posting random statements in the medical supply. Brown's PC has a microATX motherboard not a custom dell form factor. And if you read his entire post you would have found that he has a low profile case which severely limits his "just slap a nice gfx card in that PC" options.
  4. If you wanted to make it very simple, you would need to get a low profile video card, the best one available is very difficult to buy, it's an AFOX radeon hd 7850 low profile that is not marketed in north america, around $300 if you can get it, which is quite the rip off. Best thing that's easily purchased is quite a bit worse, VisionTek Radeon HD 7750 for around $150. If you want a full size video card, than as you suggested a new case would be in order. The only other part you would have to replace is the power supply, since that power supply won't fit the screw holes on a regular width case. Since you have a microATX (4 slot) motherboard, you could get a microATX case, or you could go with a regular (7 or 8 slot) ATX case and basically any decent brand power supply. Then you have the full range of video cards to choose from. With no idea of budget I can't recommend a specific card other than to say that GTX 780 gets insane benchmark scores for $650 If you wanted to upgrade your CPU (it could use it), the best you can do with your motherboard is an i5 760, which is about a 32% increase in performance and would set you back about $200. If you get a new motherboard, then you could get an i5 4670k or something similar for $240 and it would be a 160% increase. At that point, new case, power supply, motherboard, cpu, video card all you'd need is ram and a hard drive to call it a whole new computer and forget about taking your current one apart. You can get 16GB of ram for around $120, or 8GB for half that... an SSD is around $1/GB or you can pick up some huge-ish hard drive for $75-100 or both. I haven't recommended a motherboard yet, again it depends on budget and what CPU you're interested in. If you have brand tastes or interests in things like overclocking or trying to get a deal then there's about a thousand different ways to spec the upgrade. Find me on vent to discuss if you like
  5. The unlimited clean drinking water that I wash myself with isn't hot enough in the morning in my apartment building.
  6. Gabe lumps dod in with ricochet on the probability of updating it. How likely do you think ricochet 2 is? Don't expect a dod 3.
  7. I have a problem with the assumption that just because superman's max speed is 99% the speed of light he can punch at that speed. How long does it take superman to accelerate to his max speed? Do his punches even use the same ability as his flying does? Superman has to accelerate while flying, so he must have some ability beyond leg muscles pushing off the ground to propel him.
  8. I can't imagine the noise that thing would make while on fire....
  9. The defense attorney got in a car accident, he'll be fine, but he has a concussion so he's out for a few days. The judge didn't want to keep the 60 people still waiting for them to finish jury selection waiting for several days doing nothing so he declared a mistrial. The 60 people got sent back into the jury pool for other trials, and the 8 of us that were already selected got sent home.
  10. MISTRIAL!!! I'm FREE!!!
  11. I hope the deliberations are as exciting as the movie 12 angry men.
  12. So I've been selected as a juror in a criminal case. What do you guys think I should do?
  13. NEVER set your config to read only. There is no use in that. ALL custom config should be run from autoexec.cfg. You do NOT require an "exec autoexec" line, the autoexec.cfg file is automatically executed, as the name suggests. A first step with configuration issues is to check your custom folder for rogue configuration files.
  14. That's odd.... do you have a server.cfg file in your config folder that could be doing something strange? Also, check all the folders in custom (/dod/custom/<somefolder>/cfg)
  15. This should solve your issue.
  16. I wish those PS4 / Xbox One people would stop trying to hijack our windows version numbering thread!
  17. Wait wait wait. This is a joke? I just spent the last 3 hours trying to perfect my "galaxy method"! Dammit, Lafy!!! Please allow me to apologize
  18. 1. Windows 95 2. Windows 98 3. Windows 2000 4. Windows ME 5. Windows XP 6. Windows Vista 7. Windows 7 Am I missing something? And don't not count ME because it was only out for a year. Actually, based on the various kernels, windows vista was the 8th version of windows, and windows 7 and 8 are minor upgrades. 1. Windows 1.01-1.04 (85-87) 2. Windows 2.03-2.11 (87-89) 3. Windows 3.0-3.2 (90-93) 4. Windows NT 3.1-3.51 (93-95) 5. Windows 95,98,ME (95-00) 6. Windows NT 4.0 (96) 7. Windows 2000,XP (00-05) 8. Windows Vista,7,8 (06-present) If you don't like that i'm mixing NT based OSs with legacy OSs then it could be 1. Windows 1.01-1.04 (85-87) 2. Windows 2.03-2.11 (87-89) 3. Windows 3.0-3.2 (90-93) 4a. Windows 95,98,ME (95-00) Legacy Windows Terminated 4b. Windows NT 3.1-3.51 (93-95) 5b. Windows NT 4.0 (96) 6b. Windows 2000,XP (00-05) 7b. Windows Vista,7,8 (06-present) Or if you insist on breaking out versions of windows that are essentially identical on the inside 4b. Windows NT 3.1-3.51 (93-95) 5b. Windows NT 4.0 (96) 6b. Windows 2000 7b. XP 8b. Windows Vista 9b. 7 10b. 8 The numbering is screwy because Windows NT 3.1 was either NT 1.1 if you think of NT as something new not based on older versions of windows (which it is) or 4.1 if you want to keep the numbering for a new product. But in no way was it Windows 3.1, that already existed.
  19. I'm pretty sure stone offered you a free gaming mouse
  20. Please do not make your config.cfg read only, this causes many problems with the in-game settings interface no longer being able to save changes to your settings. all custom configuration scripts belong in autoexec.cfg, or in myotherfile.cfg and add "exec myotherfile" to your autoexec.cfg. The files should be perfectly happy loading from either \Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\cfg or \Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\custom\<any_folder_name>\cfg Steam Pipe automatically parses all folders in custom to use files there if they exist. You should check any folders in custom to see if they have a \cfg\config.cfg file as that would override the \dod\cfg\config.cfg file.
  21. They should add this to the olympics. I want to see them race!
  22. Without a budget it's hard to answer this. An entry level gaming PC can be put together for maybe $700 (depending on how bad you define entry level gaming), a top of the line gaming PC can cost as much as you want to spend.... You can spend $1k on just a case if you see fit. To design a system you're going to need to come up with a budget and then make decisions on some trade offs if all the best stuff isn't in your budget.
