Was on the USS Oklahoma when it was struck by Kamikaze Pilots and was Wounded and went overboard, Swam to nearby Island, which turned out to be Guadalcanal and was beached for 3 days before he was found survived 3 attacks on the island, radioed a major assault on the island and was wounded again. Received 2 Purple Hearts, and for Bravery was Awarded the Silver Star. He died in 1969 from the shrapnel off the Kamikaze hit on his ship. His Name was : James Fredrick Skurka I like this Topic
