The Good - The storytelling feel (intro, different songs with different moods) - The music selection (but probably because I've been listening to New Divide A LOT lately lol) - Transition effects (except for one, see below) Ok, here's the critique, please consider it as opinions on perfecting what is evidently good editing potential that's already there. 1) WAAAY to much cross-fading/cutting, gives sense of erratic pacing (only part that I got a strong sense of cohesion was the Jagd spawn exit sequence) 1a) doesn't feel like you're taking advantage of slow-mo/cam angle changes as pacing tools 2) too many "slow-mo/change camera angle" for "normal" kills (1:39, 2:45, 4:59 to name a few) - save those for special kills, like through walls or multi-kills or incredible reflex/timing shots 2a) also, letting viewers see the kill notifications and then using the slow mo/cam angle to highlight the kills makes it easier to understand the flow of your vid (e.g. 3:08) otherwise with all the other numerous cuts it looks like it's part of a different sequence 3) if you want to link lyrics for special effects (e.g. "Flash" @ 1:50) use them to highlight something like potential shellshock moments or muzzle-flash from a kill or blend into another kill sequence 4) Massive blur should be avoided. Always. Even if you use them as transitions. Viewer should always have some "clarity" to follow (I thought 4:38 sequence was good use of limited blur) 5) There's a lot of switching back and forth by map - group your sequences by map (if there are many) over kill type, it helps keep a smoother flow to your vid 6) Not sure why you did the transitions to earlier version of the maps (2:40 - thunder and 4:51 old jagd) - thought you were going to show wireframes to highlight reaction speed/anticipation, however t just looked odd and broke the flow since it's a historical reference that people won't get unless they freeze on the frame. 7) And last but not least... And this is the most opinionated comment (but something I would suggest for anyone doing vids), don't use a kill just to have a kill. Less is more. Single-normal kills makes the vid waters down a highlight vid. If you don't have enough kills to fill your time, then use effects to stretch it out. In the end, it's really about the WOW factor in the kills and not the number of them. Again, take from this what you want. Looking forward to your next vid Tate!

Together we can... what? So a few thousand people write to NHL front office saying "get this shit done", they'll go, whatevs. People who have season tickets are the ones who should be doing something. Companies with lodges should be doing something. But just like everything else, it's the average Joe who actually loves the game who get screwed. It's just like gas prices. People complain and bemoan the sad state of affairs ... while they pump their gas at $1.45 a litre. So nothing changes in the end. If people actually bothered to get angry, stopping to consume the poison would be a good start. Good editing. Sadly, minimal effect.

Knowing my luck, I'll get randomly assigned the middle pick, sandwiched conveniently between Parker and Engle. Get on vent so that you can hear me rage as they steal picks just before I take them. Good times. And remember, gentlemen prefer single-malt scotches. Neat.

It wasn't a "nice try" because it wasn't even regarding your console comments - it was about whether or not you remember the warning. You're assuming something that not the case. I DID type something in chat regarding your attitude that probably should have noted (although that wasn't the warning itself). After your 2nd time, I DID warn you with in-game voice. It's not that you were spamming over and over at random times. And it wasn't a momentary emotional response that can happen to anyone. Simply put, you had VERY calculated intentions behind your voice commands that did not fit with welcome behaviour on the server. That's what got you the temp ban. The 1st MRB pub server welcomes players of all kinds of skill levels - from beginners to high-level competitive. Certainly, you, as with any other Insomnia player, are welcome to join after your 1 Day ban is completed but you should understand that you need to contribute to a healthy and respectful environment. As for the perm ban, that's my bad as you got a perm ban instead of the desired 1 day ban that I had selected. This has been fixed, it's been changed to a 1 day ban as originally intended. -

You were warned about being a douche for voice-command spamming. If you selectively filter stuff out that's not my responsibility. You repeated being a douche. You were given a 1 day ban not perm. To be honest it could have just as easily been for disrespecting other players. Old cal-I guys (like Bungles) give less attitude on our server than middling talent tpg-open kids like you (and this isn't an opinion, this is an informed evaluation). I would always suggest asking yourself: is this a normal pub that I can just pull my "hey I've got clan tags, I'm a competitive player, I'm better than you" or are there admins on who know that I'm being a douche? Simple wisdom to live by: if you're actually good then act like a player who earns respect rather than one who feels entitled to it. -
So finally got my headset. It's the plantronics (i'm loyal to a fault i guess). Besides it also has the needed headphone/mic jacks that's not usb. Thanks again for your suggestions, and now I have directional sound and voice levels are back to normal again. good times are gonna roll.

Sadly the perception of the american political process is that it's pretty much reduced to mudslinging. Just because both parties doesn't that it's a) right to do so and mean anyone who practices mudslinging should bear the same judgement. Consider the guy who consumes crack vs the dealer. It's pretty evident that there's a difference between the two. I don't buy that the GOP think they're right as much as they want to make Obama look wrong (e.g. first responders).
-
I don't really see how arguing for a truism is much of a point though. It's clear that intentionally sabotaging everything will get little done. The problem that's being noted is that the GOP is doing this for the sake of showing up those in office rather than for an altruistic end. If the GOP were stalwartly opposing the Health Care bill because pharmaceuticals friendly to the democrats can triple their profit margin on the people's bill, hell yeah, that's something worth opposing. If the GOP were saying that the government is being fiscally irresponsible because the democrats want to continue funding war efforts at the cost of social programs (or tax hikes), I can get behind that. The GOP is grandstanding not to improve the country but to further their own private agenda. As for Sanders' filibuster - he's protesting the tax cuts for the "1%" from bush legacy legislation. This, itself, was a concession by Obama to the republicans so that things can move on. That to me sounds more like an intention to improve the country rather than pursuing any kind of power-gathering agenda. For financially poor republicans, how does this help them? Not a single bit. So either the GOP stays hostile to continue supporting the ruling financial elite or they do it to ridicule Obama so that when they back in power they can continue to support the ruling elite. I dunno, for that seems quite a different thing than what you're trying to say.

Howson can rest assured that he won't have the title of worst GM in pro sports (Millen being retired and all). "The Magic will receive Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, rookie swingman Moe Harkless, three first-round draft picks and a 2013 second-round pick from the Nuggets (by way of Golden State). Lakers forward Pau Gasol had been in previous scenarios of the trade, but his representatives have since been assured he's no longer in the deal..." Well, at least Orlando fans can see more of Sharapova near courtside. So now LA has Howard, Gasol, Kobe and Nash + random guy in 3-spot. Sigh. I hate LA.

Kirk, even you have to concede that methodology will always be at odds given the asynchronous relationship of incumbent and Challenger/Opposition parties. While I agree that the onus should be on non-partisan approach (no mud-slinging, don't ask for a favour by starting "hey fuckwad, I need your help", etc.) the problem lies in the goals. While not outright saying that Fox News is the mouthpiece of the Right, it does continually spew forth anti-Obama rhetoric that often has little to do with the legislation itself and has shown that it's willing to throw out journalistic integrity in favour of negative messaging. Given that the right holds both senate and house majorities, the Obama administration has made efforts to make concessions so as to actually be able to pass legislation. However, herein lies the frustrating part - republican demands are geared to be impossible to consider (and they know that). The goal is not to push out the BEST legislation (one would imagine the role of the opposition to keep that in mind) but to either shoot down; change in such a way that the legislation is practically useless so that it can be used as fodder subject for the next election; or the bill suits the needs of the republican party whether or not that need actually benefits the country or just a VERY select few (as was evident during the Bush admin). Simply put, no matter what kind of negotiating posture either party makes, when the GOP's goal is to solely discredit Obama with no regards to the merits of proposed legislation it's impossible to see any legitimacy in what the GOP says/does. Even before they had the majority, remember the filibuster the GOP pulled on the 9-11 First Responder bill? Closing a tax loop (put in by the Bush admin) that only benefited the rich to get the funds to help first-responders would sound like a noble and common-sense proposal. Thankfully it actually created separation between Tea Partiers and moderate GOP reps. However, the GOP made it a well-known position to challenge EVERYTHING the Obama gov tabled. I mean seriously, is the kind of close-minded approach that you want to endorse (even if we switched the roles)? What the GOP does well is hide this ridiculous strategy behind a veneer of politico-babble to make it seem that they care for the legislation when it's clear they'd sell your grandmother as long as it helped get them back in power. For me, why it doesn't matter whether people consider the GOP a bunch of spoiled brats or not is because that's the stand the GOP is happy to take. Last time I checked, no democratic opposition pulled the "la-la-la hands over my hears la-la-la I can't hear you" stunt to this blatant degree. The shame is that we'll never really know if Obama was just a right-of-centre-leaning democrat or if he was just too hamstrung by GOP posturing and incessant truth mismanagement ($200 million a day? Really, some 4th tier desk clerk in India is considered a irrefutable news source? Really?) to be given a chance to actually effectuate real change.

Holy crap. That's... ridiculous lol But so true about different places with discounts. I know people who work at Ubisoft don't even get games at cost/near cost. If you're on a project, you get the game at least. But otherwise, you pay significantly more than you'd expect. Even working in restaurants or McDicks you don't really get a decent discount. I used to work at this nice "fancy" place. I got a 10% discount. Yay. DIY ftw (if you can that is). I'd recommend reading an interesting book about the things and devices (Shop Class as Soulcraft by Matthew B. Crawford) and their relation to consumerism.

@Yama: That's pretty awesome! Necessity is forever the MILF of invention. @Kirk & Crackers: Damn, that's one hell of a mark-up. @Stone: Yeah, likely going to bike down to Futureshop (Best Buy owns Futureshop but only stocks it at Futureshop) to get their plantronics.

Great. Will check out all the links. I just prefer to NOT spend that much on a gaming headset since I have a history of accidents with them. Although Lafy, I'm kind of worried about your first link... Thanks again everyone.
-
Thanks Lafy I'll check them out. Although most of them seem to be USB headsets - was looking for my crappy ol' PC that has a non-usb switcher box. Hey, I was on today Kirk! 1/2 deaf and all (too bad it was your chance to abuse me). But yeah, I haven't been online or on vent (primarily because I can't hear anyone very well). I was never partial to the split combo. It just feels... weird to speak into a stand up mic (I'm sure Engle would equate that to speaking into a dildo - he has the experience i hear hehe). Worse comes to worse, I'll just go get my old faithful plantronics. Been with plant ever since I started gaming. It's like the old yeller of headsets (that you once in a while have to take out back behind the shed). Once I get a headset, I'll be more encouraged to get online again.

So my old plantronics are in the final death-throes. Everything sounds like it's coming through the neighbour's walls (which is why I haven't really bothered playing). Figure 5 years of good service, about time they got put to rest. This is what I'm looking at to replace them: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/pla...bbd177b89d1en02 If anyone has anything better to recommend (at the same price range) then I'd be happy to hear your suggestions. Oh and volume adjustment dial almost a necessity. Cheers!
