Resolved - Steam - Offline Mode - Any Ideas?
Holland 1st MRB replied to Wanner 1st MRB's question in Closed Tickets
Re-add the servers to your favourites list. You should be able to find them easily enough by searching through them, or just grab the information from our front page. -
Did the above suggestions help resolve this issue? Please give us a status report on the current situation with this problem.

Note; The following steps will require you to log into your Steam account. If you do not currently remember your Steam login and password, take the necessary steps to recover them prior to completing the following. Close Steam completely. You may need to check the task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to be sure Steam has closed fully. Navigate to your steam installation folder (example; C:\Program files\Steam). Delete everything in that location EXCEPT for the following; Steam.exe SteamApps folder Restart Steam. This step may take a few minutes, as Steam will redownload it's core files. You will not have to redownload any games. If there are any questions, or further problems, please post them here. -

It appears all the errors shown in your console upon start up are a result from commands in the default config.cfg file. I wouldn't remove any of the commands, as they appear to be referenced not just on start up, but also each time you create a local session (create a server). They will not have any effect on your connection to the server. Are you still getting kicked out regularly? -
Edit to Candy's file path. You should find the config files (by default) at C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\day of defeat source\dod\cfg

This is the case for everyone currently. From what I have managed to dig up, ETA for it coming back up is a week at the latest. -

Did you re-download DOD:S, or copy it from a backup you had made previously? If it is from a backup, than all custom content you had at the time of making the backup would still be active in the game. A simple way to check, would be to go to your Steam installation folder. From there go into; Steamapps\Common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\cfg If you have a configuration file installed, you will see an autoexec.cfg file in the folder you just navigated to. If you want to refresh your configuration, delete both the autoexec.cfg and config.cfg files from that folder. After doing that, verify your game cache through Steam. Note, that this will remove any key bindings you currently have, and restore all controls to their default setting. -
Just as verification, since you say it is your first time using the tool, please verify that the following (taken from the valve tools wiki) is accurate for the steps you took; It sounds like you are inputting an invalid tick range for the demo smooth, or not pressing "select" after typing in the range.

All those errors are a result of using a configuration file (such as Dillon's provided here on the forums). Your game should function properly despite these errors. If not, please respond with what is happening. If you want to get rid of the errors in your console at startup, just shoot me a PM. -

Due to lack of progress on our own, we have opened a few Steam support tickets about this issue. Unfortunately, it has been a full month since some of the Steam support tickets were put up, and there has yet to be a response. We are still working on this issue, and will keep you posted.

Then I wouldn't point to your graphics card just yet. If you do not have integrated graphics, and you remove the graphics card, it should give you the corresponding beep code. We should start with your CPU, as that seems to be what the first beep code was referring to. Inspect your CPU and CPU socket for any visible damages. If not, reseat the CPU. Inspect all caballing inside your case to ensure it is all secure. Specifically, power cables. If possible, you may want to test with a different CPU entirely. This should tell us whether or not it is the CPU, CPU socket. -

Holland 1st MRB replied to Pandalsson 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
As a starter, check the manual for your motherboard for the corresponding beep codes. For the motherboard you listed, the following should be accurate, but it never hurts to be doubly sure; Memory issue: 1 long, 2 short Graphics card issue: 1 long, 3 short CPU issue: 5 short Please verify the series of beeps, and post back here. -

Be sure not to run the ethernet cable too close to any existing electrical. This is liable to cause interference in your signal. Please, keep us posted. We will do our best to assist you in any way we can. If there are any further questions, do not hesitate to ask them. -

Holland 1st MRB replied to Gearhart 1st MRB's question in Closed Tickets
To verify, when you claim it to "randomly change", this does not mean it is changing sounds mid-fire, but on a location-to-location or map-to-map basis, correct? If so, this has to do with how the source engine plays sounds. It happens with other weapons as well in certain locations. Depending on the composition and layout of different maps, the sound for gunfire is modified. The exact details, I do not know, but for example, a 30 cal. firing in a tunnel sounds differently in-game than a 30 cal. firing in an open street. Gunfire heard from across the map sounds very different than gunfire right next to you. There are multiple different examples of where this can be seen, though you can be sure that this is an intentional feature. If not, verifying your game cache would be a good place to start. -
