Number one thing to watch for when buying a laptop is cooling. Placement of vents/fans. How many vents/fans. etc. Gaming laptops get hot. When computers get hot, they stop functioning properly/break. As for specifications; (Processor)Core I7 would be ideal, though the I5 will still perform well for most gaming applications. (Memory)8GB. Anything over 8GB is over-kill, plain and simple. Restart your computer once in a while, and you won't have any issues. (Video Card)Again, this will vary. Shop around. Avoid integrated graphics like the plague.

Lafy's build looks pretty top-rate for the specified price range, though note that the SSD he listed is a 2.5" mount. The case he listed will not support that. You will need a 3.5" HDD (as that is your preference), something like this. Swapping the SSD Lafy suggested for the one I have linked should bring your final price around $1167.90
