1stLt. McDowell is right, a reset is the first thing to do and we could use the specs on the MoBo and bios. I would also suggest a few pictures: one of what the monitor says and one of the motherboard. You can post them here through Photobucket or other sharing site. This will give us a better idea of what we are dealing with and be able to help more.

If anyone else is having these ping issues, download the Ping Plotter program here. Post any results if you are having the issue then Lt. Col. Yamagata can make a case to take to the server provider. Thanks.

Thanks for the assist Gearhart. It ended up not being what we thought. They simply installed a custom config we call the "Dillon's Mod" that a Unit member created back in the day. It helps with a whole slew of issues that make the game run better, like LERP and contrast levels, etc. Ticket Closed.

Thompson, After reading through the thread a few times and looking at the specs on her laptop I have a few observations: First, the processor and ram are more than equally adequate to handle the game. What I see is the weakness is that onboard graphics card. Its no secret that onboard graphics are not built for high end gaming. That being said, I wouldn't consider DoD:S a high end game compared to the other games of today. If the laptop cannot handle the game on the very lowest settings. there is not much you can do to fix the problem. The video card more than likely cannot be upgraded without a MoBo swap and more RAM will not help on graphics, only on load times. I think you best bet is to either build her a gaming computer (possibly out of parts you already have, it will at least have a standalone video card) or look for a good deal on a computer on Black Friday or Cyber Monday (Cyber Monday would probably be better, at that point they are trying to get rid of all the excess computers) If you decide to buy the parts yourself or have extra parts, we can step by step help you build it (only if you are not able to) through posts and helpful videos. Laptops will work with gaming if they are built for it, I believe her current laptop is at the brink of its capabilities. Thats just a few thoughts I have, in general.

Nymans work on Gattaca is my favorite score of all time. I am also a big Hans Zimmer fan, first time I heard his stuff was the Lion King. By the way, excellent post 2ndLt. Kirkendall, a lot of research and you are obviously a big film score fan, me too.

Can we get: -The hardware specifications of your computer including which operating system you are using -The amount of free space available on your hard drive. -What the minimum system requirements are for Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, Red Baron and Icewind Dale 2 The games off of GoG should be updated to work with newer hardware and operating systems but the games on your disks were written with the specs of computers of the day in mind. There could be many problems causing them to crash your computer. We need to eliminate some of these problems. Th error about the hard drive seems to be the most likely of the problems but we need to make sure. Give us the information and we can check for other solutions.
