Wilson, I was doing some research and realized there may be an issue with your routers firmware. Follow this basic guide and update the firmware and see if it works.

Wilson, I have several tickets related to ping/joining issues at this time. We will research it further. One of the possibilities is a server problem. We will research further and get back to you.

McGarr, we are currently researching this problem. I have several tickets that are related to this problem. Some of the research has pointed to a server issue. What you can do on your end is to try a few things for us: Restart Steam Reset your router (basically unplug it for about 30 seconds and plug it back in) Restart your computer Make sure there is not a Windows Firewall blocking access to the server (It would be in the Firewall settings in your control Panel Start>Control Panel>Security) Try those fixes for now and give us feedback about the issue.

Reiterating what Lt. Col. Yamagata said, if the computer just shuts itself off there can be a few possibilities. You may have the laptop set up to turn off after a certain amount of time or the laptop is overheating. Depending on your version of windows you need to get to the Control Panel. In Windows 7 click Start>Control Panel>Power Option and check to see if your computer is set to "Shut down hard drive" after say "1 hour" This shut down would pretty much put the computer in sleep mode which you could get out of by hitting a key on the keyboard. On Windows 8 in the Metro do a search for the Control Panel (if it is not already pinned) and do the same procedure. Bear in mind this shutdown only occurs from inactivity, but as a rule I like to turn off auto shutdown, personal preference. If the problem does not result from a shutdown for power, your computer may just be getting too hot. This happens quite frequently in a laptop as the cooliing is not that great. Firstly, get some canned air and try to blow out as much dust as you can (if there is easy access to the inside you may want to open a panel) After the dust is cleared out and the power options are checked, if you are still having shutdown problems you might consider getting a laptop cooling fan. They run from $30 (US) to around $60 and you set the laptop on it and it will cool the laptop while playing. They are usually USB powered. Longshots for the problem might me software conflict or bad memory but the memory issue would usually be accompanied by a blue screen. Try out some of these suggestions and let us know.

We will look into this Wilson. I have contacted a few of the technicians to investigate. Lennings had the exact problem yesterday. Things we tried were: -Verify the DoD:S game cache through Steam (right click the game and click "properties") -Disconnect from Steam and reconnect -Reset your router -Reboot your computer -Check your firewall and see if the server is blocked With your problem and some of the other ping issues we are starting to get we will need to do some tests. You and Lennings are both Euros but I haven't heard any problems from other Euros. Some of the ping issues we have had are from the Eastern time zone, but I am in central and have no problems, ping or connection. It may come down to your ISP. Those are some of my thoughts, I will have other techs try to help as well.
