Today another member of the hockey community passed away. Wade Belak joins Rick Rypien and Derek Boogaard as the third NHL enforcer to die this offseason. The details of Belak's death are currently unknown. Rypien death is presumed to be suicide as he was dealing with severe depression that had sidelined him for half of two full seasons. Boogaard died after overdosing on Oxycontine and alcohol. A question I have now is, what do other leagues do to help there players? It is tragic that three fierce competitors have been forever removed from the game but these problems can not be unique to hockey.
