  1. To play Star Citizen you need only to buy the initial game. There will never be a monthly charge for usage. Some in-game items may be available as microtransactions, but they "will NEVER sell anything that can’t be acquired through honest (and fun!) gameplay." Alpha is expected in Q4 of 2013.
  2. via The Escapist: '"The economy in Star Citizen is built to represent millions of entities (whether players or NPCs) that work together to move resources and finished goods from one end of the galaxy to the other," said the post. "Miners and other resource gatherers work to extract basic resources from the available supply, traders collect those goods and deliver them to other places, escorts protect those convoys from harm (while pirates attempt the opposite)." Players' actions, in turn, are deeply intertwined with the game's economy. For instance, if you play a pirate that focuses heavily on a particular trade route, it can lead to a shortage of resources that harms one of the in-game production chains. "If nearby missile factories suddenly have a shortage of necessary components, escorts who come in from an extended firefight to restock may find missile prices very high - or stocks depleted entirely." Shortages, in turn, will be used to generate new missions as players are called on to transport resources and defend merchants trying to restock effected areas. If you're keen on influencing the economy in deeper ways, Roberts and friends are aiming to provide options for that, as well. "The most aggressive entrepreneurs may take over whole sections of a supply chain and begin producing their own goods for sale on the open market - if they can keep the resources flowing. But be warned - some large corporations don't appreciate competition!" All in all, Star Citizen sounds as though it's shaping into a game just as well suited to virtual moguls as it is to would-be space pilot'
  3. It's a little more than basically EVE. EVE has its own draw and that's fine, but saying Star Citizen is basically the same is like saying Call of Duty is basically the same as CounterStrike just with instant respawn. Same genre, very different games. I doubt you'll see many multi-boxers in Star citizen. It's more focused on individual skill. Sure there's going to be situations where you're just plain outclassed, but the stats for your ships' components aren't the most important thing any more.
  4. If it is that laptop you linked, I would not pay $400 for that. I'm not sure I would pay $200 for that. What brand new computer is still running Vista? Only using wireless b or g? N is a factory option only? Did he get it with n wireless? What size is the HDD on his? DDR2 RAM? What is this, 2007? Even if you're looking for the "rugged" computer to withstand drops there must be a better option.
  5. You won't have a larger ship to launch from all of the time. If you're in a single passenger fighter, you'll have much more limited range than some of the multi-crew ships that have bunks or the like. Typically you'll be launching from a planet. I've heard Roberts aspires to 50 sectors at launch, so you can imagine some sectors will probably cater to the pirates and mercenaries for home bases. So if you compare two early backer ships: The Hornet: The Freelancer: With the Hornet, you'll get a more maneuverable ship, with better dogfighting stats or capabilities. But the Freelancer is a multi-crew ship. So you'll have the ability to hold more cargo, or go longer distances. The Freelancer will be better for boarding action, as it can hold more cargo, and you could have a 4 person boarding team. So perhaps a pirate group would jump in with a Hornet to disable their prey, and move in with the Freelancer to steal as much cargo as possible. But even if you are successful, be careful to not incur the wrath of people enough to get bounty hunters on your ass.
  6. I wonder Magic, in the top 5 carbine users on the server, who among them has the highest accuracy?
  7. You're not experiencing deja vu, I wrote about Star Citizen in one of the previous iterations of the 1st MRB Newsletter. I'm an early backer to this game and I highly recommend backing it. I backed it in the early Kickstarter days, and it's still possible to back through the RSI website. To date, Star Citizen has raised $13.79 million (that's million, with an 'm'). This looks to be one of the most exciting games in development. Look on the forums for some of their updates, or just check out the website. They have too many exciting ideas to list here, but I'll be happy to answer any questions. Will you join the United Federation of Earth? Trade resources for profits? Or drift through space exploring of your own will? On second thought, those traders will be easy pickings... Maybe you'll become a pirate and seek your fortune by force. You get to choose. You choose your destiny and follow it. Your skill as a pilot, merchant, diplomat, fighter or more will be your level. A brand new prodigy pilot could be better than a veteran who lacks a pilot's intuition. I'm talking no combat levels, just skill. I'm talking a space simulator that lets you disable enemy ships, board and take the cargo for your own profit. From space sim to FPS in one boarding action. Did I mention this is running CryEngine 3? Get in on this. Play with your friends in a constant online universe. Join us in the stars. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/ https://robertsspaceindustries.com/about-the-game https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge
  8. I stand corrected, I looked up Celicas and found some similarities for the "rally cars" but I don't have a good eye on cars and honestly the headlights evaded me completely even though now all the pictures I look at it stands out like a sore thumb.
  9. Download is about 1.2 gigs. Not hefty, but not a light download either especially considering some interwebs. Luckily in Iowa we grow our internet with natural corn. I don't know what Heroes and Generals game you were playing, but it doesn't sound like the one you linked. The one I played from that link had a "World of Tanks" style matchmaking system and overall profile setup. Except contrary to World of Tanks, the matchmaking decides to lump American players into European servers where the connection at best can be a "red bar." Enticing. Aside from the lag, I'm not sure where the RTS elements come into play. It's pretty much a battlefield game. But again contrary to a Battlefield game, the bullet physics don't make sense. I tested by shooting my Garand into a wall, and the bullet spread I got was about as logical as no-scoping an AWP in Counterstrike: Source. I realize this was a beta but I was so unimpressed I uninstalled after giving it about an hour and a half of play. And that's time for true play, not install or setup. The best time I had playing was when I realized they used the Garand iron-sight as a gimmick and if you shoot DoD style you'll have more success. I've played a lot of betas, and have a number still installed. But that was a painful game to play. As a last point, any game that gives the middle finger to people playing left-handed automatically gets a downvote from me, so it takes a lot to get back in the good graces. Oh, you want to bind Enter to something other than chat? NOPE! HOPE YOU LIKE TYPING WHILE TRYING TO SPRINT! Oh, you think you can solve that problem by binding sprint to \? That would make sense, it is the key right above Enter, so it might be pretty easy to hit. Oh wait, I forgot to tell you! WE PUT AN ENTIRELY USELESS CONSOLE FEATURE THERE JUST TO FLOOD YOUR SCREEN IF YOU HIT \!
  10. That's a Supra. Sexy.
  11. you making fun of me mate? want to fight? *Want a fight* Want to fight? That is a correct sentence if think think of it in terms of, Do you want to fight? There should have been no need to correct it. There is a need because it's an incomplete sentence. The "corrected" sentence is also an incomplete sentence. So neither are correct, but a correction should still be warranted.
  12. Due to there being no evidence of illegitimate play, I have no choice but to unban this player. If the banning admin or other players have a reason this player should remain banned contact me via the forums or Steam.
  13. Canadians play basketball?
  14. Considering your attitude towards this ban, I would think you are lucky Hall didn't ban you for a longer period of time. Acting like you know exactly the reason you were banned for, and inventing a vendetta to make everything more dramatic only makes it seem like you deserved a much longer ban. For the vendetta specifically, you yourself can take a look at our Sourcebans page which keeps every ban we have issued, even before we used Sourcebans. You'll notice only two permanent bans for the 1st SAS, both of which are imported bans. Imported meaning they were placed before we began using Sourcebans. Both of those bans were put in place for the same reason I feel obligated to lengthen your ban, disrespect. I don't care how good you think you are, or how long you have played the game. You don't have a privilege to come on our website and create drama where there should be none. You did not talk to 1stLt. Hall, you just began spouting your ideas and hypotheses. The fact that you assumed you were banned for hacking plays into your conspiracy mindset, especially since everyone bans hackers for three hours. That's sarcasm in case you didn't pick up on it. I'm not going to extend your ban, but you shouldn't take that as a favor to yourself. Do not spread drama in our servers or website where there should be none or I won't be so lenient. Our server remains the best server for Day of Defeat because we eliminate people who cause problems for no reason. Happy fragging. Behave in the 1st MRB server and we won't have to interact again.
  15. Completely horrible argument. I can't believe you'd post something like this. That's like saying nothing at all about a car matters other than how fast it goes and its MPG. It doesn't have AC? You're whining about something that has absolutely nothing to do with the performance of the vehicle. People were completely justified in being worried when XBox announced their complicated used games plans. People were justified when the XBox was going to have an online requirement. Those are both big issues to a lot of people. No, it doesn't have anything to do with actual hardware performance. But it did have to do with how Microsoft wants you to play. For example, before they changed the online requirement, the XBox One would not function in Korea or Japan. Not a big deal for us, we don't live in those countries! Oh wait, Korea and Japan have two of the largest US military presences outside of the US. The requirements that Microsoft had to play their box was a large middle finger to service members who are serving in other countries or serving on a Navy ship. But that wasn't a good argument because it has nothing to do with the performance of the box. People are still justified in wondering about the Kinect requirement. The Box does require the Kinect to be functioning, powered and not blocked by anything before it will let you play. Even if you aren't playing something with the Kinect. Why? The PS3 has slightly better hardware and you don't have to get the PSMove camera. Plus I'm not paying $100 more for a stupid camera and because they were too cheap to back Blu-Ray in the first place. It doesn't matter that one company "thought" about doing it. Because they didn't do it. Sony had the chance at E3 and before to reveal just as many ridiculous things as Microsoft, but they didn't. Microsoft did. And only when everyone collectively bent them over and screamed at them did they realize it was a mistake. Sony listened to what people said before that, and they knew it would be a bad idea. If you want an XBox One, fine. But don't tell me I'm whiny because I don't like how Microsoft was handling a console they expected me to willingly fork $500 for. I'm going to go with the company that has shown it is willing to work with developers, publishers, distributors, and most importantly, gamers.
  16. So this is a list of projects Valve may or may not be working on? Without knowing how many people are actively working on any given project? I had no idea they were making a Half-Life 3.
  17. They've only changed once they saw their preorder numbers. My Best Buy store has preordered at least 25 PS4s. We have yet to see one Xboner preorder. They still didn't answer launch country issues (which look to be ongoing since you still need an internet connection to "setup"), or Kinect issues, and Microsoft will still not be getting my monies.
  18. Banned again, this time for two weeks. If he returns a third for more mischief, it will be permanent.
  19. Thank you for your patience on this matter. Because no other response has been posted, I have lifted your ban. This ban can be reinstated if need be. Happy fraggin.
  20. Speaking as a southpaw, I can safely say the DeathAdder is not the best left-handed mouse. In fact, it is a shit mouse for left-handed players. The best mice for lefties are unfortunately ambidextrous mice. I've given the DeathAdder 3 tries, and all 3 of them broke down completely.
  21. The reason was changed to be more in-line with the truth. Your play in the pub is a disruptive presence in numerous ways. Speaking as a person who has defended you in past circumstances, frankly, it's become more of a hassle than anything else. I've dealt with more than a baker's dozen complaints myself. It comes to a point where the pain outweighs the gain. You have admitted to hacking in previous units, which was the crux of Warrant Officer Stone's ban. Playing in our server is a privilege, and we remove players who abuse the playtime in one way or another. Players who are more skilled than others should know when to tone it down for the benefit of the server to become populous. Because of your unsightly reputation, and the amount of work you have created for our Command Staff, you will remain banned. This ban can be overturned by an officer higher than myself. Coincidentally, don't use the word apposed. I don't think it means what you think it means.
