  1. Torchlight II is... well yes, it's a lot like Diablo. click-click-click dungeon crawler, still entertaining. A vast improvement upon the original Torchlight if my memory serves. Most primarily, the fact that this one is actually multiplayer, which is essential for a Diablo-esque game. Interestingly enough, one of the main reasons that Runic made Torchlight II is to build experience, because they're reported to be planning a Tochlight MMO. Not much to say about it other than that. Metro 2033 is a shooter based off of a novel of the same name. The most interesting dynamic introduced in this game was the currency system. Metro 2033 is a post-apocalyptic game, and ammunition is sparse. Therefore, your currency is actually pre-war high quality manufactured ammunition. To avoid shooting away your money, there is still ammunition manufactured during the current nuclear apocalypse, but it's significantly shitty. You'll also need to scavenge a lot. Probably the most important salvage are filters for your mask. The main aim of this game is to be somewhat more "realistic" so you don't have much of a HUD. Rather, you'll have recharging health, and you can tell your damage based on blood splatter on your visor and heart rate. You won't have much a of a map, you'll be pretty dependent on a compass. I played the game on the hardest difficulty, as I am prone to do, so my game experience will have varied from your own. Referring back to the filters, certain areas (especially the surface) will require you to wear a mask at all times. Your wristwatch will tell you the time left on the filter. As long as you have filters to replace yours, you should be fine. Of course, if you get into a fight with some mutants you may find yourself with a broken mask. Again requiring replacement through scavenging or ammo purchase. But you'll have an interesting game with the survival elements mixed into the horror-esque atmosphere. Witcher II is made by CD Projekt, and they're my favorite Polish game devs. Not that I know many Polish game developers, but CD Projekt takes a strong stance against invasive DRMs. Meaning that they accept there will be pirates of a game, but they're not going to pull an Ubisoft or Blizzard and require you to be online at all times. Don't be confused, typically every game has some amount of DRM, but CD Projekt allows for infinite copies of the game to be installed on infinite number of PCs. The game is still a great success for CD Projekt, even with lax DRM, helping the hypothesis that games free of DRM will still make money and not just be pirated over and over. As a game, if you haven't played the first Witcher, you should know Witcher is much more a Game of Thrones than a Lord of the Rings type fantasy. Sex, cursing, blood, and filth. I do hope you got the Enhanced Version though, it will make it much easier to get involved with the game. Coincidentally, and completely on another tangent, the Polish Prime Minister visited the US a while back, and gifted a copy of the game to President Barack Obama. Evidently, the Poles are proud of it. They have reason to be, it is a pretty in-depth game. Overall all three games are definitely worth a play, they've all been doing something interesting to the games genre and are good for some fun.
  2. Depending on what you're looking for there are a multitude of answers. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - RPG developed by Bioware also has a sequel developed by Obsidian entertainment, both very good. Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy - Really any of the Jedi Knight games. Of course, you'll be falling into the polygon graphics of the past, but who gives a shit? Star Wars: Battlefront II - A game that takes after the Battlefied series, except Star Wars. Obvious differences still exist. Star Wars: The Old Republic - MMORPG just went free to play. Really no reason not to try it, it is a good game. I never got into the Force Unleashed games, but they do have a pretty good fan base right now as well. If you're looking to go very old, but very good 4X RTS, install Star Wars: Rebellion. Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion: (Mod) Star Wars: Requiem. Great Strategy game used as a basis, insert the Empire and Rebels as playable factions. Were you looking for any more specific recommendations?
  3. Bah I'm too lazy to read articles. I just skimmed and saw Michael Arndt. And I may have been looking for an excuse to post the chicken.
  4. Tough to Google Michael Arndt, eh? Development, pah. Old news is more like it.
  5. I thought visiting Magoo was already listed.

  7. Because they plan on spamming movies doesn't necessarily mean it's taking it "Marvel" style. By Marvel style, I mean investing their hopes and dreams into directors, writers, and actors who all are enthusiastic about the content. By saying going Marvel, I was tying a branch to how Disney grabbed Joss Whedon to direct the Avengers. They need to pull in people who want to do well, who are part of the culture and maybe even already fans of the content. There's plenty of movies they can spam on about, and because they're going to spam it in the "Marvel formula" isn't necessarily a good thing. It could just be an expensive focus test. Of course, just because of people like me who will see it regardless, I doubt it can flop the first couple of movies out. But I also doubt the execs at Disney are blind to nerd culture and want to pull another prequel-quality trilogy from the poo-stained drawers of George Lucas. All I've got so far is Michael Arndt, which can work out really well considering. But that's just one piece to the puzzle.
  8. When Disney paid $4 billion dollars for Lucasfilms, LucasArts, etc. they pretty much can do whenever they want with it. If they use Star Wars in shitty kids shows, so be it. I'm not going to watch them. And it doesn't throw a shadow to what Lucas already puked out of the Star Wars franchise. All in the hopes that Disney realizes the success from pulling another Marvel on this. If they fail, then you'll hear me bitch. But I will remain cautiously optimistic.
  9. When threads turn into spam, they are moved to the Slope Chute.
  10. You'll need to do extremely well to get on the train to tankville. I have a classmate who tried to be a tanker, but they ended up assigning him to Ordnance officer. His number one choice was tanks, followed by cavalry, unfortunately now, according to him, everyone else will get to fight while he stands around counting bullets.
  11. D'Oh! Anyways, it was an interesting race. We'll all just have to see what exactly the future brings. I truly hope Obama does well, I want to see the country on it's feet. So change some shit!
  12. Jankovski and Griswold, enjoy.
  13. It's like League of Legends. The original DotA was the basis of League, but they do have some mark-ably different features. I also have some extras, up for grabs.
  14. You didn't think you were the only one, did you?
  15. That could actually spell out a lot of bad things for people. For example, will the next episodes put in Skywalker starting the Jedi back up and enlisting Kyle Katarn? If not, all of the "Jedi Knight" games are suddenly out of canon, meaning they really don't have a point anymore because it would be in some alternate reality. Obviously, there are many ways they could take the sequels, but there are just as many people who have written books or made games that will be different. Still, if they get someone to do the Heir to the Empire series into movies, I will have a full-blown nerdgasm.
  16. Good in the sense that Star Wars now has the opportunity for life through the same force that revamped Marvel into what it is. Bad in that some people still don't realize how Star Wars works, and Disney might not know. You give a director like Joss Whedon creative control over a Star Wars movie, you will not be disappointed.

  18. My wallet can't handle prices of that magnitude.
  19. I reiterate the sentiment that "Pic" implies a shorthand for the word picture. Shortening "Pick" to "Pic" is no more a timesaving strategy than using the wrong forms of your on purpose.
  20. Just in case you haven't seen it, But I'm sure you have.
