Great video Maines! I'm glad you have stuck around this long, you truly do the work of a true Raider. But you think you'll knife me? oh-ho-ho-ho!

Resolved - Mass Effect
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Quarterman 1st MRB's question in Hardware Guides & Maintenance Questions
I had that same issue, I actually fixed it by launching Mass Effect 2 through Steam. It then installed some various things and allowed Mass Effect 1 to launch. Apparently Mass Effect 1 doesn't install all the required files to launch. If you don't have ME2 through Steam, then I have no idea. -

Ban Request : Erbithal
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Dillon 1st MRB's topic in Military Police Archives - DoD:S
First, your ticks are off as far as the numbers go. Second, the MG offloads a number of shots, giving his position away. When I get home I'll run a config I have that will help with some of the other portions of the demo I have questions on. As for tick 20000, don't get too ancy. There can be a reasonable explanation for it, I'm going to have a look after I get on my desktop and not my netbook. But there is definitely some evidence here I will be taking a look at after work. -
Give it time, it will be back up.

Get a job you bum! Congrats Dillon, I hope this leads to what you're looking for!

If anyone is wondering if why I or anyone else is hating the ending (or should be hating) to the series, this goes into it pretty well. Also, explains the Indoctrination Theory. Although a forewarning, both videos are 20 minutes long and obviously contain loads of spoilers. So I'd only watch if you have beaten the game, or have no plans to play. And have 40 minutes to waste.
-
It's only a possibility that they're changing it, they haven't committed anything solid. At this point, it's late for them to change it. Honestly, the Indoctrination Theory made me feel better about the ending because all of his points are very logical and on the money, but I doubt that's what Bioware would do. I would go into more specifics about it, but I'm lazy and don't want to put spoiler tags, but Hey Zeus that was really bad. If they didn't even show what happened to everyone I would be fine with it, I just wanted an ending that made sense in the context.

Coincidentally, the ending really blew chunks. I'm very disappointed in Bioware's writing for the ending in this game. Speaking from the perspective of a fan who knows the series quite well, it absolutely made no sense.

Ban Request :: "Frank West"
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Brown's topic in Military Police Archives - DoD:S
It does not matter if he plays on our server with those tags, in fact he probably would cause much more harm on a different server than our own. The issue is that he is impersonating a member of the 1st MRB. Permanently banned. -
Neither of those manufacturers.

On a side note, when posting an image one should take the time to examine the URL before posting. For example, The Kanaris Musket is easily identifiable, since if you view the image source it's just hotlinked from Wikipedia. And the name is still in the URL. So I'll move on to this:

You need to be either Paragon or Renegade enough to rally both to your side. It all has to do with choices that you've already established, so saying one thing like "screw synthetics" early on can make it so you'll never have the option to give the Geth a chance. It also has to do with characters who've survived through the Mass Effect 2 campaign, if you didn't have a strong following through there you'll have a tough time getting both sides as well. But those are just examples. I also was able to get all "the guys" on my side, it's basically just knowing when to pander to one side or the other. Oh, and not fuck it all up by saying something stupid.

Ban Request :: ChrisMedias
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Maines's topic in Military Police Archives - DoD:S
Very short, inconclusive demo. No action will be taken. -
The only thing different of note between the iPad 2 & the iPad 3 is that they're putting in the HD retina resolution display into the iPad 3. An iPad in HD? But it's got a quad-core now! Just like the Asus Transformer tablet has. iPad won't be straining my wallet anytime soon.

Good work Maines, I made you a badge for congratulatory purposes!

I have unbanned you. However you will be watched closely. There are eyes everywhere, including the trees. If you behave yourself, there will be no furtherance. If I receive but one complaint regarding you, repercussions will be heavy.

I smell... Update 1.2... Due in April, knowing Bioware probably late April. "Prior to release, our main priority for Star Wars: The Old Republic was to deliver a high quality game and service, right from day one," said Dr. Greg Zeschuk, one half of the founding team behind BioWare. "Now that we've achieved that, we have shifted our focus to adding more content to the game and improving and refining the experience for our fans. Legacy is our biggest update yet and a great example of the kind of content players can expect for the months and years ahead."

Unban request - Evers
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Evers's topic in Military Police Archives - DoD:S
The demo provided is very indeterminate, therefore I see no reason to have Evers remain banned. Player has been unbanned, and all court documents will show thusly. It is so ordered. -
I have unbanned you from the server. For future reference, your Steam ID is STEAM_0:1:18139137 Keep in mind that whatever happens on your computer is your responsibility so if it happens again I will not be so lenient.

Rumor has it, Valve may be working on their own gaming console: Link "Potentially aimed at taking on Apple TV and the current generation of gaming consoles, the rumored Steam Box includes some impressive gaming hardware, with 8 gigs of RAM, a Core i7 CPU and a high-end NVIDIA graphics card. It's been suggested that Alienware may have had a hand in its development, and that its Alienware X51 computer was designed around an early version of Valve's new console. The Steam Box will come with a proprietary controller that may include biometric sensors (like the ones Valve uses when play testing its games) along with customizable components that allow users to reconfigure the controller based on what game or application they're using. Valve filed a patent on such a design last year."

If the ban was for as you say (excessive teamkilling) then you have served your time. I will unban you from the public server. If the banning admin has a further issue, they may bring it to my attention. Happy fragging, and stop team killing.

What is your criteria for asking whether it's like WoW? Is it an MMO? Yes. Does it have a pretty standard MMO combat system? Indeed. It doesn't use KotOR combat, that's not feasible in a multiplayer setting since it had a heavy focus on the ability to pause combat to plan out abilities. Its art direction is more "cartoony", but it plays into it very well. Animations are very smooth and combat flows very nicely. As for the storyline, there's an extremely heavy emphasis on the first Knights game, lots of references to Revan. Since the second was made by Obsidian, and not Bioware, there's less emphasis on it. But they do incorporate some from the second installment. It shares a ton of similarities to the KotORs, you get your own party, in PVE you fight with a companion from your party. You have your own "Ebon Hawk," or rather just a larger ship for your own traversing the star systems. There's space combat, and it is more useful the the combat in either of the "prequels," but only just. It's a rail shooter, similar to Star Fox 64. That doesn't mean it's bad, I happen to love it. Even with it being heavily repetitive. Bioware has promised to add in more content including Guild capital ships which I would love to see. The game is still very much in its infancy compared to really any other game. Character interactions are very similar to the Bioware standard, dubbed the "Mass Effect wheel." Choose your response, light/dark scale. The conversations and story are really intriguing in my opinion, however some more than others. For example, the Bounty Hunter's questline, spoilers, is mostly just, "go to this planet, kill your bounty. Go over here and kill your next bounty." There's an overriding story beyond that, but it's hardly compelling compared to a lot of the other class storylines. Imperial Agent has a really good story, as well as pretty much all the Force-wielding classes. Basically, Bioware has taken things that work in their own games, and implemented them while taking things from almost every other MMO that work. So yes, it has similarities to WoW and pretty much other MMO, but there's also an overriding since of a new experience. The story works very well in an effort to steer your general experience. So it is pretty sandbox-MMO style, however your main questline will lead you around to the planets one-by-one until you hit 50. As for the endgame, there's 2 raids right now and a number of "flashpoints" which you can do. Flashpoints are basically just instances, and I found them to be a load of fun. The PVP needs a lot of work, but is also pretty entertaining. So all-in-all, good fun and great game.
