PETA still has Ingrid Newkirk's will on their website: Clicky Highlights: a. That the “meat” of my body, or a portion thereof, be used for a human barbecue, to remind the world that the meat of a corpse is all flesh, regardless of whether it comes from a human being or another animal, and that flesh foods are not needed; b. That my skin, or a portion thereof, be removed and made into leather products, such as purses, to remind the world that human skin and the skin of other animals is the same and that neither is “fabric” nor needed, and that some skin be tacked up outside the Indian Leather Fair each year to serve as a reminder of the government’s need to abate the suffering of Indian bullocks who, after a life of extreme and involuntary servitude, as I have seen firsthand, are exported all over the world in this form; c. That in remembrance of the elephant-foot umbrella stands and tiger rugs I saw, as a child, offered for sale by merchants at Connaught Place in Delhi, my feet be removed and umbrella stands or other ornamentation be made from them, as a reminder of the depravity of killing innocent animals, such as elephants, in order that we might use their body parts for household items and decorations; d. That one of my eyes be removed, mounted, and delivered to the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a reminder that PETA will continue to be watching the agency until it stops poisoning and torturing animals in useless and cruel experiments; that the other is to be used as PETA sees fit; e. That my pointing finger be delivered to Kenneth Feld, owner of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, or to a circus museum to stand as the “Greatest Accusation on Earth” on behalf of the countless elephants, lions, tigers, bears, and other animals who have been kidnapped from their families and removed from their homelands in India, Thailand, Africa, and South America and deprived of all that is natural and pleasant to them, abused, and forced into involuntary servitude for the sake of cheap entertainment; f. That my liver be vacuum-packed and shipped, in whole or in part, to France, to there be used in a public appeal to persuade shoppers not to support the vile practice of force-feeding geese and ducks for foie gras; g. That one of my ears be removed, mounted, and sent to the Canadian Parliament to assist them in hearing, for the first time perhaps, the screams of the seals, bears, raccoons, foxes, and minks bludgeoned, trapped, and sometimes skinned alive for their pelts; that the other ear be removed, preserved, and displayed outside the Deonar abattoir in Mumbai to remind all who do business there that the screams of the cattle who are slaughtered within its walls are heard around the world; h. That one of my thumbs be removed, mounted upwards on a plaque, and sent to the person or institution that, in the year of my death or thereabouts, PETA decides has done the most to promote alternatives to the use and abuse of animals in any area of their exploitation; i. That one of my thumbs be mounted in a downward position and sent to the person or institution that, in the year of my death or thereabouts, has gone against the changing tide of societal opinion and frightened and hurt animals in some egregious manner; That's really all I ever needed to tell me PETA is a horrible place. That and they put down well over 90% of the animals they take in.

I was not terribly impressed with the beta. The servers were shit for most of it, always randomly dropping me out of the game. I realize they had a heavy load, but they know just how many beta keys they sent out, and they've done stress test betas before. Still, I was interested enough to keep attempting connection and play. Character creation was strangely reminiscent of Age of Conan although there were plenty of differences. I couldn't get a feel for the combat. It's supposed to be more like the Elder Scrolls combat from the single-player RPGs, but it was odd and clunky feeling. This could be refined by the time the game is ready for release. Same with the graphics I assume. I wasn't terribly impressed by those either, the art style didn't bother me, it's just that they didn't seem to embrace it. I did like the general starter questing, it was never "kill 5 oogleboogles and bring me their stirgetburrs." There was always a defined objective behind each mission, and that was generally refreshing. Overall, I'd rate it at a 6.5/10. Problems are definitely there, but it's entertaining enough for me that I'll come back for at least another round. That's a beta scale coincidentally, I'm not comparing it to finished product.

I used to sell these at Best Buy periodically. I have limited experience with them, but I will say: "if you don't have a Mac, don't bother." It really seems to be designed to be used with Apple systems in mind. It's an interesting gimmick, and has some novelty to it, especially to see how they will progress the possibilities for motion control. It might be an easy $80 gift for a techish person, as they may get some enjoyment from it. Leap - Best Buy site

I'm not even going to quote you (not directly though the system, mind, I still am addressing what you said) because I have absolutely no respect for you. You insult other people and claim to not be insulting. This is the most ridiculous and circular reasoning I have seen. You want to go ad hominem? I can go ad hominem. But I won't. Because that's pointless. You claim (paraphrasing) that people "like most Americans" do not understand healthcare or the ACA. First, that's a direct attack on intelligence. Insult. Second, maybe they do understand healthcare and the ACA, but they have a differing view on how it should be handled. While you're at it, people share some Tea Party viewpoints. Which is fine, after all they are their views, and you call the Tea Party "stooges" for no reason other than to be as edgy as MSNBS. Kudos. You don't understand flat tax the way I used it. You googled flat tax and saw the times where people argued about it with regards to (not too) income. Get that shit outta here. Then, you specified on your "idea" which is even worse now than it was before. A flat tax on each product sold? Great. Be for the people yet you just shut down every mom & pop shop. You're going to charge me the same tax to buy one bottle of soda as I would get to buy a sixpack? Oh, are those separate products now? Have fun with the logistical nightmare you're setting up. You're going to charge me the same tax to buy a pen as you're going to charge me to buy a flat screen TV. I'll wait why you edit and backtrack off of "every item bought and sold." Because all you're doing is allowing Sam's Club, CostCo, or other mass sellers to justify buying and selling larger quantities all at once instead of buying what is needed. Have fun with the enviromentalists on that one. Plus, have fun with educators who now have to purchase a $.07 folder instead of a $.02 folder for their classes. No, educators don't get tax exempt status. You just directly attacked the middle and lower class. The upper class don't give two shits. While we're at this, let's throw your math into here. Wal-Mart is the largest national retailer. So, sure this money sounds like a whole lot. Well, the national debt is what $16 trillion? Best case scenario is you make maybe $5 billion a year? Argue with it some more but you ain't getting above $10 billion. Great reduction there. Maybe in 100 years we'll see the impact. Sure you can argue this is part of your "master solution" however why this part your logical gold? It's really not. Good work with the Wikipedia article on logical fallacies by the way. This is child's play off of a phone, and calling people flat wrong is going to get you a world of pain.
-
I came in here even though I knew I shouldn't have. But I'm restraining myself to countering one logical fallacy. It's incredibly ironic to attack people for not understanding laws or policies coming into place while simultaneously proposing a federal sales tax like it's an astonishing solution "the other side" would never do. Sales tax is state, not federal. In fact, various counties in certain states can have higher sales tax. But that is controlled by the state. While selective federal 'penalty' taxes exist on some products and services, cigarettes for example, an overreaching sales tax would be such hell to implement and even more hell to justify constitutionally or legally, especially when dealing with current policy makers, Right or Left wing. The positive tax revenue listed is qualified as a "Affirmative conclusion from a negative premise." In that any tax revenue proposed off this plan is inherently flawed. I direct my ire towards this specific part of your discussion because you are enacting this to somehow give legitimacy to your other arguments, and that's silly. When you create an argument build off its own strengths, don't redirect. Don't get me started on specifics. A flat tax based purely on volume of product sold? Oh lord, he doth not know what he propose. Proposeth? Propose.

Game of Thrones discussion (Spoilers)
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Gardiner 1st MRB's topic in Mess Hall
He's crazy, but he only has one golden tooth in the book. The first casting and impression of Daario was bad. The first truly bad casting that GoT has really done so far. I mean, he's supposed to look like this: and you give us: Wut? Yea, he was literally supposed to have a blue beard with a blonde mustache. Also the naked lady swords. But I think they had that in the show, they just didn't focus on them. I like that they cast someone different as Daario. I couldn't stand Ed Skrein as him. I wonder if they'll actually give him the makeup, triple-pointed purple beard, and finer points to match the book, or if they'll keep him clean-shaven and more tame to not confuse the people who haven't read the books. -
We are having this discussion on International Southpaw Day. Is there a righty day?

Controversial Gag Order for Court Case in Pennslyvania

Controversial Gag Order for Court Case in Pennslyvania
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Armstrong 1st MRB's topic in Politics?
Please, please, please read some other law cases before typing out more shenanigans that have no point. I will reiterate for the millionth time, nondisclosure agreements are freakin' common. Google NDA and I'll bet you'll start getting a ton of templates to write your own. When someone is filing a civil lawsuit, they are either looking for money or something to change. It turns out, these people were looking for money! Hey, guess what? They could've not taken the money and blabbed all they want. It could've worked out for the better. They could've gotten with anti-fracking groups, and those groups would've helped build a strong enough case to expose these fracking giants for the evil monsters they are. Or, they know their case isn't very strong. They know that they will probably lose in a civil case against this company. The company, on the other hand, knows that when this case goes public, it's gonna hurt. The negative PR will be heavy. They believe not all PR is good PR. To them, $750,000 will be a fair amount to sweep this under the rug and move on. They chose to sign an agreement with a private company. The court is only involved to ensure they uphold their end of the bargain. If you argue these kind of deals are unethical, you need to argue every type of plea bargain or settlement is unethical as well. They all have gag orders. Yes, even ones in Canada. "The law" isn't sending a message. "The law" is acting as a impartial arbitrator. By the way, of course the lawyer says it's out of the ordinary. He's going to say whatever he wants to make it seem out of the ordinary. The more press involved, the more money he can get for the clients. And as a last point, you've probably already signed a NDA before! Almost every job you get will have some non-disclosure as a part of working there. For example, during my tenure at the largest electronics retailer in America, it was forbidden to discuss the employee discount with non-employees. Doing so is grounds for punishment up to and including instant termination. Employees of KFC can't discuss the Colonel's secret recipe to outsiders. That's a firin'! That's not against the 1st Amendment. Sports teams very often have the infamous "character clause" for their athletes. If I was playing for the Houston Astros (a private baseball team), and I went and spouted some racist nonsense, the team would be within their rights to terminate the contract just on those grounds. They wouldn't have to make an argument that it was hurting ticket sales which breached some other point on the contract. They can just point to the character clause. Racism isn't illegal. It's stupid, but not illegal. As a homework assignment, find me examples of NDAs you've signed. Don't be shy, they're everywhere! -
Controversial Gag Order for Court Case in Pennslyvania
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to Armstrong 1st MRB's topic in Politics?
This is setting a precedent? This is a gag order. This happens so often that this isn't even news. In fact, the only real reason this is news is because it concerns fracking. This is a deal. Plain and simple. This is not revoking 1st Amendment rights. A private company cannot revoke your 1st amendment rights. I, as a private citizen, can use reasonable force to shut your mouth on my property. The 1st Amendment protects you from the government, state or federal. The reason the court is involved is really more to ensure there is no breach of trust with fraudulent intent. Or, in more laymens' terms: The reason the court is involved is to prevent fraud or embezzlement. The article says it best, "Nondisclosure agreements, or gag orders, are routine in many types of settlements." If anything, this is more common than a lawsuit. I mediated a case where a minority was harassed by a security guard, and held against her will in a side-room until the police arrived. The settlement sure as hell included a gag order. In short, if they decide to break their gag order, which is well within their rights, this gives the fracking company precedence (hey, a reversal!) to reclaim the $750,000. This breach would be in no way a criminal charge unless they are attempting fraud or embezzlement. Therefore, this is not a breach of the 1st Amendment in any way, shape, or interpretation I can assess. Gag orders are so freakin' routine. Without one, the fracking companies might indeed receive negative PR. But the people involved might lose the ensuing court case, leading to nothing for them in reparations. And that is very scary. -

Yeah thanks for this!!! Canada! (FACEPALM)
Kirkendall 1st MRB replied to H. Stone 1st MRB's topic in The Slope Chute
I will concede the duckface is an outdated tactic in locating nationalities. Due to the strength and power of American culture, the "finger gun" has invaded other countries as an acceptable gesture. See Figure 1, in which Rowan Atkinson (a British actor) uses a finger gun technique to convey comedy. The influence of UK culture you emphasized with the spelling of "colour" is at example here, as the tarts are obviously mimicking their British influences. Further, the dog they are holding is commonly known as a "maltipoo," a designer mutt breed. Only the problem with the maltipoo, is it's a mix between a maltese and a poodle. Poodles, while originating in Germany, were adopted by the French and most heavily influenced by the French. The French. Between the German influence in the poodle, and the Italian influence in the Maltese, that leaves at least a 30% breed mix to the French. It is commonly known that prolonged exposure to French material will kill a pure-blooded American, thus her immunity to the poodle exposure can only be attributed to a natural resistance from a close proximity and general acceptance to French Canada. Also keep in mind that American "icons" such as Paris Hilton cling to suicidal chihuahuas. Which is a Mexican breed. Don't ask. I cannot speak to the Canadian education system, but I do know everyone from age 1 onward in the US is taught about the mighty RED WHITE AND BLUE (figure 2). Finally the car. The car is an Acura TL, and the Acura TL holds the capacity for a USB drive to be attached for the musically inclined. Only, the TL will only accept FAT32 file type. 3 plus 2 is 5 (thanks American education). And, as I'm sure you know the first number in a person's Social Insurance Number (SIN) has to do with their geography and location. 5 = Ontario, Canada. See. Figure. 3. However, the current administration is not against drone strikes in different countries, I'm sure something can be worked out. Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 -

retarted? Obviously he is employing the older use of the word, "tart," noun, a woman considered to be sexually promiscuous or a prostitute. These woman were at one point, tarts, but had become normal since coming to the United States of America at some point. Upon their return to Canada, they "retarted" themselves, leading to their awkward appearances and odd demeanor. I say a return to Canada, because in the 15 seconds I watched of the video they did not pull the "duck face" once. This duck face has become a staple of American tart culture and its lack of appearance is a red flag. More specifically, a flag consisting of a red field with a white square at its center, in the middle of which is a red maple leaf. Canada. -

Being heralded as the worst game of this generation is no small feat. I needed to share the awfulness that is this game. Scoring a 16/100 on Metacritic, I give you: Ride to Hell: Retribution. "No word exists for the level of disgust I have for everybody involved in its blasphemous making". Yahtzee Croshaw of Zero Punctuation Eurogamer's Cara Ellison states, "I am going outside now. I am going outside. Look, it's raining. This game is my Shawshank. I am leaving the house now. I am leaving the house." Score: 1/10 Gamespot's Daniel Starkey: "Ride to Hell: Retribution is a hideous, slapped-together action game saturated with poor, nonsensical design choices."

This game is so very Alpha, it's really hard to figure out if it's going to be a good one. I played a little co-op in it, and the physics are weird as hell. There's little explanation about the crafting, placing objects, or even the controls. So in that it's very similar to how Minecraft was at launch. However, this doesn't have the same feel as Minecraft as immediately they started sending waves of worms trying to kill this weird pod thing we were supposed to defend for some reason. There needs to be more explanation, especially when it comes to the weapons. You started picking up guns that are like 5 guns attached to each other in this big hodge-podge, and you have no idea if it is better than the previous 5 gun monstrosity you were using. Oh, and meleeing the worms was completely pointless. Even when you picked up a weapon that is 4 chainsaws strapped to each other. If they do it right, sure, it could be a load of fun. But when I played it needed a lot of work.

Steam Cards are just a side collection game you can take part in. They have no uses other than that. It doesn't really give any benefits other than leveling up your Steam Profile, which allows you to have more people on your friends list and ultimately more customization. I've done a bit with it, so I'll take the Steam Cards if you're handing them out. Otherwise, sell them on the Community Market and make a quick buck. A literal dollar. They do have real money value for people who are willing to pay money for them. I ain't gonna pay you for them, but it's an option to pad you Steam wallet marginally.
