The 5th Ranger Battalion deemed it necessary to get into contact with other units operating in the same campaigns as ourselves.
We decided to introduce ourselves to as many units as possible. The 5th Ranger Battalion, originally created in mid 2000's, was a striving realism unit within Day of Defeat. When Day of Defeat:Source released, we stormed the battlefield, again becoming a popular unit within Day of Defeat.
I personally left the unit around then because I joined the United States Marines and did not have time to commit. Apparently sometime after I left a new command was in place that may or may not have disgraced the name of the 5th Rangers. If I knew about it and could have, I would've squashed that. But that happened. The command decided to abandon their posts and move on to a new war.
The 5th Rangers were gone, no longer a name known well around the Day of Defeat community. Upon my return to Day of Defeat, I was searching for a unit, after finding out that the 5th was gone, after searching I was approached by an old officer of the 5th back in 2006-2007. He stated they were restarting the 5th on 1.3. I was excited to see a unit that I loved and was dear to my heart return. I accepted his offer to join and began working to bring this unit's honorable reputation back.
Since then I have been promoted to the First Sergeant , Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the unit, after talking with my CO, we concluded that our resources and the unit itself will be more useful on the Source Campaign, earlier this week, the 5th Ranger Battalion, Fox Company deployed to Day of Defeat Source.
With all of that being said, I would like to officially start active communication between our two units, hopefully setting up training exercises, drills, and meetings in order to establish a peaceful and long-lasting relations. I would like to thank you for taking your time to read this statement. Below is our contact information.
Greetings from the 5th Rangers.
