  1. Process Monitor is the program you'll have to download: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 When using Process Monitor, go to the Filter menu and add the following filter: "Operation is not Process Exit" then Exclude. (found here) It's a pretty overwhelming program if you're not sure what you're doing, so it's up to you if you want to try it. Depends on how bad the issue is for you, I guess.
  2. Did you find out what program stole focus? If you just exited the program, it might be "solved" until the next time that program launches.
  3. I wasn't suggesting you had a virus (Although, AVG and McAfee are practically viruses in my book ), the Alt-F4 method is probably the easiest way to determine what is stealing away focus. The people that have tried it found random programs such as their wireless controller, HP updater, and even the built in Microsoft Error Reporter to be the culprit. Plus, it definitely wouldn't hurt to run any of the OS checks.
  4. I had the same issues on my win7 laptop. It was indeed frustrating, I don't remember it being fixed, since I upgraded to a desktop with windows 8 (now 10) and my laptop now runs 10. Brown had some good suggestions, what anti-viruses are you running (if any)? Check your msconfig for odd startup items, you could do the whole "Clean Startup" troubleshooting where you disable all non-windows services and re-enable them one at a time to see if there's a program causing the problem. Googling suggests pressing Alt+F4 immediately after you lose focus on your current window and then use Process Monitor to view the exited program. (You'll have to download the tool for that sort of functionality, though) Then, if you've exhausted all the possible 3rd party program causes, it's gotta be something with the OS. My suggestion would be the usual operating system fixes: sfc scan and chkdsk Anyone remember if it's win7 that has the separate dism scan too? If so, that might be worth a run as well.
  5. I just love how this topic has devolved into crab cakes.
  6. Heh, unfortunately we don't get to see them too often, a lot of groups get to bypass the profanity filter... try Brony and Bronies.
  7. Your eye doesn't detect FPS, that's not how it works. However, it can detect color changes and convert that into movement, which it does a lot faster than 65 FPS. I think fighter pilots have been recorded detecting over 1000 changes per second. It all really depends on the refresh rate of your monitor, that whole "You can't see a difference in FPS over 60~" comes from the fact that monitors mainly refresh at 60Hz and you're stuck with 60 FPS since that's all your monitor could display. New monitors have much higher refresh rates, and if you have a nice monitor with a decent 144-240Hz refresh rate, you'll definitely see a difference between 60 and 200fps. That's why people get uncomfortable watching TVs with high refresh rates, the movement is so fluid it seems unnatural.
  8. Sorry if you've seen this already, but this is intense!
  9. A server restart might help, we are due for a downloads folder purge as well. If the other officers with access haven't cleared it out in 5 hours, then I'll clear them when i get home. If that's not the issue, be sure you guys are grabbing traceroutes during the lag.
  10. I'm not suggesting that the current system for deleting is bad or needs change just that it's flexible if need be. More importantly, this topic is more of an informational post about how it works for reference, if someone feels they need to delete something. I agree, the current system is pretty straightforward and has worked for us in the past. However, it is kind of funny that the two replies of non-issue are from moderators unaffected by the system
  11. We had a report that members are unable to delete their content. This is not an error, it's by design. Unless you are a forum moderator (SSgt+), you cannot delete your own content if: The topic has been locked by a moderator or admin It has been more than 1 hour since you posted the content (supposedly) The content is in a protected forum that contains sensitive information (needs admin deletion) If you need something deleted in those cases, the current method is to have a moderator or admin delete it for you. If this is causing problems, we can make changes. Would you all like the ability to "Hide" your own posts from the rest of the forum members, to be reviewed by the moderators and let them decide to delete/approve the content? Is 1 hour too short of a time period to delete and edit your content? What would be a reasonable time period for making edits to your own posts?
  12. I've replied to your PM. Thanks again for the offer, we just don't have need for a 3rd server at this time.
  13. Hello All, Another month, and another bill. Thanks again to everyone that donated last time, it was a huge bill and we came together just in time to pay it. Since that last bill wiped us out, we're just running about $29 short for our server payment this month, so any little amount you can donate would be appreciated! Thanks for all your support!
  14. Hey Everyone! Extreme apologies for my absence, we're finishing up the summer semester at the university I work at and things have been rough! Anyways, I received an email about our website costs coming though and we're just short having enough to pay for the next 6 months, and to make things more fun, our monthly server payment is about to cycle in the next few days as well! As always, we don't want you to feel obligated to donate, not everyone has extra cash to spend and even if you do, we realize that your financial comfort comes first. With that said, anything you can contribute is appreciated, it is you guys that keep the server alive! Thanks!
  15. My coworker got a screenshot of our working conditions: There's usually a group of people sitting outside the front of our building on their phones. Plus, I think the students in the computer lab below our office keep us triple lured nearly all day. Our night shift worker says they sit outside and re-buff the poke-stops until nearly 11pm. It's a neat game, I like to play when I walk my dog, and having triple stops at work is just too good to pass up when it's slow. I won't be quitting my job and playing this game full time, or walking into busy intersections like some people...
  16. Fixed, should be back by the next map change.
  17. https://youtu.be/VV5txCNDco0 Relevance! -Edit: of course embedding is disabled...
  18. A combination of your actions against our policies and your conduct got you banned. However, since a few of those policies have changed and since time has been more than served, I think it's fair to consider your ban expired. Happy Fragging!
  19. If there's anything Blizzard is good at, it is re-balancing. They made A LOT of changes during beta, Bastion used to have a little Reinhardt shield in turret mode, balanced. Now that it's in Full Release, they have tons more data on which to base their balancing, it might not make everyone happy, but they do their best based on the numbers. They cannot ever appease all their players because most players have different play styles, conflicting input and experience. For every person that wants a buff for the character they play, there will be another that wants a nerf for that character. With years of experience, I think Blizzard has the best track record for making useful balancing changes. As with any PVP game, I would rather an involved developer that tries to balance their game with regular patches than a developer that takes the money and is done with a broken game. I think leaving the game unbalanced and allowing players exploit it alienates more than forcing those that found the exploits to a level playing field.
  20. Yeah, I was probably thinking about the ep before.
  21. Or was it a Dire Wolf? What if the Umbers are pulling a fast one on Ramsey and Shaggy Dog is still alive?!
