The higher a system's market share grows, the juicier it is for those willing to obtain information. Especially when said system has its makers and supporters spout the lie that they are safer and need no anti-virus software, citing the larger competitor's need for system and security fixes.

There's a reason Windows get targeted alot. More people use it. More chance to run off with sensitive data. Poor Apple (not), you finally realized how stupid y'all are.

Apples just suck in general...

Is that why they're the 'gold standard' for the design and video industry?

While I hate/despise Apple, they don't completely suck at everything. They have their place, but they're also double the cost for the machine - so unless you're in one of those industries, yes, in general they do suck and your a sucker if you buy one.

In terms of video editing and music, they're fantastic. In terms of everything else. From doing your daily bills and writing your term paper, gaming, and learning how to create a computer from the parts up?

Windows-based/PC machines are better.

Besides, quoting Jean V. Dubois (more or less): Eternal Vigilance! Keep those antivirus programs up to date and whatnot. Hadn't had a virus/trojan/malware related problem in years.

I guess I should add...

I don't run anti-virus/malware software on my PC's.

On the fiancee's machine? Yes. Mine? No. None of them.

Dangerous? I don't think so. In the (closing on) 15 years I've been online... I've had I think 3 viruses - ever (although the first was spyware IIRC).

I will occasionally (every couple years) bust out and scan my PC's with Avast, or Malware Bytes or something, and I always come up clean. I firmly believe that if you arm yourself with the right knowledge, and play it smart from there on out, you'll be okay. It seems most don't and allow themselves to be duped into things. That's why I have to go over to one buddies house at least once every 3 months and have to format/reinstall for him because him and his wife get the same virus every time - despite my warnings and advice.

Don't click ads, don't follow link trails that take you from the site you're surfing, watch the file sizes of images ANYONE sends to you (sub-seven, netbus, all those programs used to have a very small .exe that you could embed in an image that allowed a port to open up on their machine for remote access... don't ask how I know, just trust that I do.)

All that babble said - I sure hope Apple starts getting hammered with virus' - I'm sick of their fan boi's claiming that 'we don't get virus' crap!

Yep. It's all about being safe. And I tend to forget/no practice a whole lot of vigilance. Also because the school requires me to have their version of symantec on or the network gateway doesn't let me on the net when I'm there. ~_~;;

And apple fanbois are annoying. Especially when they can go and say "oh I can dual boot your crappy OS" or whatever they say nowadays. I've long stopped listening.

oh well couldn't care less about apple more interested in no arms obsession with cats and pangs cool sig

Which cool sig? I have three using a rotation code.
