Minimize Problem

Its starting to piss me off to the point where I just want to slaughter a little child. Ill be in game and I will get a msg from one of my instant msgers. Ill do the simple CTRL+ALT+DELETE then click task Manager (I have Windows 7 Home Prem.) and it will just quickly show my desktop and then pop back to my game. Sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I don't. I basicly can't minimize out of games...any ideas (DILLON!)

i have the same prob! they way i do it is to make the game do windows mode then i can alt tab. the thing is when i get back in game my map is gone but 3 times M do the trick for me.

You could try the obvious solution, don't use IM's while gaming.

Otherwise, run in windowed mode, run as administrator, run IM's as administrator.

I'm curious why you are using ctrl+alt+del instead of alt+tab. Or even your Windows key.

This should fix it for you. ctrl-alt-del is really designed to bring up that menu to lock your computer, restart, or close programs or processes. See what happens when you Alt-Tab.

Or be like me: IM is the devil. Don't run it while gaming.

Turn IMs off while gaming is really the best option I've found.

More directly in answer to your question, I use the windows key if I need to get to my desktop while playing DOD:S.

Alt-Tab is the generally used method of minimizing programs, as it swaps from centring on one program/window to another. Some people, however, just have on luck minimizing, I've known people who have better computers than mine who can't minimize half of the games they have, whereas I have absolutely no problem. It's hit-and-miss, you just may not be able to minimize properly, but try Alt-Tabbing and see if that works better.

Lately I've been playing DOD:S windowed and it saves me a lot of hassle. I just minimize the window and it's instantaneous. I think this can effect your FPS though, so make sure you have enough machine to do it first (I do).

i like the startup options -window -noborder

resolves any alt+tab problems without the game being inside a window.
