Played a few rounds with the RAT 7 so far. It's going to take some getting used to with this higher DPI than I'm used to.

It's obviously not going to make me better overnight but I think it did help with some issues I was having with my old MX 518. All in all I would recommend this mouse to anyone looking for a new mouse that has all the bells and whistles, for cheaper than most mice at this level of quality.

I do have to say, I love the "Sniper" button. I played at 3200 DPI but when this button is depressed I have it set to lower my DPI to 800. Makes finite adjustments while scoped much easier. Once I let go of the button it reverts back to 3200 DPI. These settings can be adjusted to different numbers as well.

The other cool thing I like is the Mode button. It lets you re-bind all of the buttons on the mouse for 3 different games, then by simply pressing the mode button, it adjusts what each button does according to what mode you are currently in. The "Mode" indicator lights up either pink, red or blue to indicate which mode you are in.

I remember PC Gamer reviewing the RAT7, they gave it glowing reviews, 90/100. The thing looked insane, it all came apart and went back together in these weird-ass ways to fit your preference and gaming style. It did seem a bit pricey, if I remember, but it looked amazing.

Got mine for 79 bucks at Best Buy.

Oh, and Goodwin, that's just not the truth, sorry. It's all about DPI or Dots Per Inch. This is basically how far you have to move your mouse versus how far it moves your pointer across your monitor. At 5600 DPI, you move your mouse 1 inch and it moves 5600 pixels on your monitor. This makes a HUGE difference vs say 1600 DPI. Most non gaming grade mice are around 800 DPI if I recall correctly. Now say you are playing at a higher resolution, like me. I play at 1920 x 1280. At 800DPI I would have to move my mouse 2 and a half inches to move from one side of the screen to the other. At 5600 DPI I would move only a fraction of an inch. This makes all the world of a difference in twitch shots, rambo-ing, snap shots, you name it. There is a reason you don't see world class gamers using a 10 dollar mouse from Wal-Mart.

Right... for the 'world class gamers', there are how many of those worldwide? For the rest of the real population? They'll never actually do enough to warrant the cost of some of those mice IMO (but I'm cheap, so...)

I know there are drastic differences in DPI, I knew that in my original post - but realistically - the AVERAGE player isn't going to become better because he has to move his mouse less. Hand-eye coordination is hand-eye coordination. I personally HATE when my mouse is super sensitive and my screen moves a ton when I just barely tap the mouse - I can't stand it at all.

I'd also be willing to bet dollars to bananas that there are some 'world class gamers' who use a more 'realistic' DPI because that's just how they play. It's all about playstyle - the quality of all the mice is pretty much identical.

You're paying more for:

A) The name brand

B) The idea more DPI may (or may not) help your hand-eye coordination become better than someone elses.

Maybe a few little features here or there, but mice are by in large... just mice.

You have to know that's completely wrong. One mouse is going to be completely different than another. It's like saying that the difference between a Geo Metro and a Audi R8 is just aesthetic. Sure, it's on a much smaller scale but the point is still there. The technology between two mice is so different lumping them all together is completely unfair.

This coming from a lefty, who has a complete shit selection for mice. Oh you say your mouse is ambidextrous? Maybe if I use both of my right hands.
