Today I got bored - went to the store and said "I will try to make sushi"

There used to be a great japanese restaurant in walking distance from an old job of mine... had the BEST tempura shrimp sushi rolls...

Wanted to give it a shot.

I've never even made sticky rice, but decided "what the hell" and bought the ingredients I figured I'd need at the grocery store.

Long story short? Turned out pretty good! It wasn't the same as the place I used to love - but it was definitely good enough I'll be making it again!

We also served up Sweet & Sour Pork over white rice, and Pork Fried Rice.

It was delicious.

Mmm, I eat sticky rice out of the pot if I ever get the urge to make some. Rolling sushi seems pretty straight-forward until you actually try it yourself.

You did great, they may not be beautiful, but you're no sushi chef. They don't have to be pretty, just tasty. If you want to make some easy sushi, look up a good inari recipe.

Great job on making some sushi Goodwin!

Try making a Philly roll. It just needs smoked salmon and cream cheese. Simple and tasty.

This is a bad time to be talking sushi... So hungry. Philly roll is one of my favorite western spins. I can't get my dad to eat them though, he doesn't like the idea of cream cheese in sushi.

Top three favs: Spider Roll (soft-shell crab tempura), Philly Roll, Unagi sushi (bbq eel)

I think it would be easier to list the sushi I wouldn't eat than the ones I would... I won't eat sea cucumber, urchin, or natto, everything else is either delicious or I don't mind it.

I'll add anything with tentacles. Unless it's been chopped up and deep fried into unrecognizable bits.

Reason for this was that woodcarving print in my old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea book....damn shit scared me then.

That and I just prefer Sashimi.

Aww, but squid and octopus is just so yummy!
