No Servers Showing in DODs

Question

Posted

I was in the pub today and it crashed for most of the people connected. Then I was in realism practice and the private crashed for everyone. Since then I cannot see any servers in either my favorites or the online list.

I have tried:

Reset my modem

Reset my router

Restarted my computer

Disabled and enabled my network adapter

Deleted ClientRegistry.blob

Deleted steamclient.dll

Deleted SteamUI.dll

Verified integrity of game cache

Restarted Steam

Nothing has worked. I still do not see any servers and if I try to connect to someone in the server it just freezes on the connecting window.

I'm out of ideas.

I ran a tracert and the second step is timing out.

I have a Nic card > Router > Modem > Internet

Which one is the second step?

Mind you that I can still connect to vent and watch youtube videos without any problems

Sorry to jump in here but, i had this problem the other day.

Do you get any servers showing in the server history/friends tab?

Have you double checked your server filters? I know something like that is trivial, but it could cause the problem.

I had it for a couple of days and it seemed to rectify itself, although I'm on a mac.

I just installed CSS to see if I could connect to any of those servers and it is the same story. Nothing shows in the servers list. All blank.

My server window (online list, favorites, history, etc) is completely blank.

I cannot connect in any way at all with my current setup.

However, I removed the router from the equation by connecting my computer directly to the modem and presto. I can now connect to servers again.

I ran another tracert and I get a timeout on the modem. Im thinking that the modem is really the bad guy here since in all of my previous tracerts the modem never used to timeout. Maybe they are both fried but I will do some more tinkering and see if I can get things back to normal.

Try using a public DNS server first. Might be some bad routing tables for your local isp that is causing your modem to crap out.

lol Am I supposed to know what that means?

So I will probably be replacing my router. Right now I have a wired router and I would like to keep a similar setup. I need to be able to connect 4 devices to it that will be wired. Right now I have a D-Link gaming router that has a 1.0 Gbps connection. I would like something similar that has good ratings. Everything that I see on newegg either has crappy ratings or says that the connection isn't as fast. What to do?

Thanks Yama but it wants to charge me 30 bucks to use that website.

I entered my default gateway ip into my address bar to bring up my router settings. Then I went to the gaming options and opened the ports for steam. It was easy because there is a default setting called steam that enters all the info automatically. I tested it again and still cannot connect to any servers.

I went and exchanged my modem for a new one so I have ruled that out.

Haha, click skip advertisment.

What's your ISP? You could always call them up for support in port forwarding.
