DOD:S crashing on startup.

Okay, I've never had this problem before, but everytime I start up DOD:S it keeps coming up with errors.

I cant even get to the menu, and when it crashes, it crashes my whole steam. I've recently installed a new game CIV 4, but I cant see how this would relate to anything. The error looks like it has something to do with HL2 files but I'm not really sure.

Anyone got any ideas?

1.) Exit Steam

2.) Browse to your Steam folder on your computer (usually C:\Program Files\Steam)

3.) Now delete the following files: ClientRegistry.blob, SteamUI.dll and steamclient.dll

4.) Restart Steam and it will do an update and hopefully fix your problem

I still need help with this. My game keeps crashing when ever I start up DODs. Then steam crashes as well

What OS do you use? Maybe run a search for "steam" to find your steam folder.

Now please dont completely loose all respect for me but I play on a Mac.... ( I got if for free so hell im gunna use it) So ive been looking around the folders and im so lost.

Still doesn't tell me your OS, haha... Snow Leopard? Lion?

Usually it's in the directory "~/Library/Application Support" on Macs.

Welp, though some nit picking and messing around I seemed to have fixed the issue for now. Thanks for the help Sir. It was a huge help!

okay thought i fixed it. But now I realize its worse. instead of the game crashing it just freezes on the loading screen.

Start by looking for updates for your Mac, additionally I know you can run a "Repair Permissions" in the Disk Utilities and that usually repairs all sorts of issues for Mac, so if you're still willing to tinker around, that's always an option. I hate to say it, but you may have to reinstall steam, if the permission repair and the forced steam update didn't work.
