Resolved - Browser Crashes When Watching Videos

Question

Posted (edited)

Name: Powell

Rank: Private

Type of issue: Software

Brief Description of Issue: Alrighty, this problem just recently started happening on my laptop. No matter whatwebsite I am on, everytime I try to watch a video, it freezes on the loading screen, then just crashes whichever website I am on. I've been looking this up to try to find out to fix this but no luck so far, I tried installing the newest Flash Player, but that didn't solve the problem either. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. :)

First thing is first. Check the status of your video drivers. Be sure that they are enabled, and updated.

Next, you will need to disable hardware acceleration for Adobe Flash. This can be done by browsing to a page with a video and right clicking, selecting "settings". A window will come up where you can uncheck the "enable hardware acceleration".

*Note* You will only be wanting to disable hardware acceleration for Adobe Flash, as per the steps above.

Close the browser. Reopen the browser, and it should be working again.

Alrighty I disabled the hardware acceleration on Flash and that didn't fix it. I also installed some drivers, but honestly I'm so clueless about these things i'm not sure if they were the latest ones. But right now I'm on my Dell Inspirion 1545, Windows 7 64 bit. I always use internet explorer (64-bit). When this problem happened, I tried using Goggle Chrome. Same problem happens, only on Chrome it says "Adobe Shockwave Plugin stopped responding" While on IE the website just stops responding.

Btw thanks Holland for putting this in the right format, my mistake.

At this point, I feel that I should point you towards Microsoft's supposed fix for the problem.

It can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/video_fr...r_crashes/en-us

I hate nothing more than allowing Microsoft to manage my computer (perhaps a personal problem), but it seems they have come up with a successful fix for the issue.

Please post back with the result of Microsoft's fix.

Actually the videos are working now! When I restarted my laptop this morning I noticed that the drivers did not install properly, so after that fix all works fine now! Thanks for the help guys!
