Rank:Sgt

Type of issue: Won't Install

Brief Description of Issue:Message. The Curse of Monkey Island setup program could not be run from the launcher. You may try running SETUP.EXE directly from the INSTALL folder on the Curse Of Monkeys Island CD-Rom disk #1

Opens INSTALL folder

Message. The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's ststem information to see whether you need an x86 32-bit or x64 64-bit version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. Wtf does that mean?

Is your OS 64 bit or 32 bit? My guess is since it 's an old game that going to only be 32 bit compatible and you are most likely running a 64 bit version of Windows you won't be able to run the game on that machine.

A 32bit program will run perfectly fine on a 64bit system, provided the program does not attempt to install 32bit specific drivers. Because it is a game, I doubt it is.

The incompatibility is likely more related to the OS itself. For instance, a game made to run on Windows 95 will likely not run on Windows 7.

You did not state what OS you have, but you should try running the program in compatibility mode. Right click the exe, and click properties. Move over to the compatibility tab, and check the "Run this program in compatibility for" box, and then select the appropriate operating system that should be displayed on the CD case, or could be found online by looking up the game title.
