Easy. The lines need to be bigger than the perceived "box" of dots. Hence the term think outside the box.

EDIT: Just watched the video and they show you how to do it at the end lol.

line 1: begin from the bottom left dot and go streight up to 1 dot spacing above the top left dot.

line 2: continue down at a 45 degree angle through the top, middle dot and right, middle dot. Ending 1 dot space from the bottom, right dot

Line 3: continue to the bottom left dot in wich you started.

line 4: continue upward at a 45 degree angle to finish the middle and top, right dots.
