Resolved - New Graphs card questions

Question

Posted

Howdy yall!

So ive recently decided that i need an upgrade graphics card from my:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814161372

The card still works great and it runs Farcry 3 pretty decent but i should probably upgrade and get a slightly better one to run Rome 2 total war and other great games that are coming on the horizon.

Heres my motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813157271

So im trying to decide which graphics card would be better suited for me and also how would i go about installing it and which one should i get? Do you simply put the graphics card into the slot on the motherboard and when you get to your desktop it prompts you to install the drives or what not?

Here are my choices:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125418 gigabyte

Any awesome advice would be greatly appreciated on which one, how to install it, and should i even upgrade and if there are better alternatives out there please let me know lol. Dont have much knowledge when it comes to this stuff lol.

Thanks!

I don't know much about the Radeon cards.

I do know much about Nvidi tho.

If I were you id get a GTX 560 or 660 ti from EVGA. So far I have had no issues with them and they are extremely powerful. If money is an issue the 460 is still a decent card, just not as good

Well i stumbled upon this one on newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130809

I havent had an nvidia card since..well 2005 lol. I'm not really knowledgeable about the differences between ATI and Nvidia and at the time i was building the computer No arms and others helped me out alot over time and recommended that current radeon card i have. It works great i love it. Its conquered everything ive thrown at it. I just never thought about switching or even considered which one was superior over the other. My choices are all around the same price of $300 so at least looking for a decent card that will last me a couple of years and is reliable of course.

Thanks for the input Bryant. Does anyone else have some feedback on Radeon cards by chance? I will consider the Nvidia's but is it complicated to change cards like that if you already have ATI drives and stuff? Will it conflict with the motherboard and stuff? I always hear stuff about how some cards dont work for certain MBOs and it makes me nervouse about purchasing graphics cards without proper help.

you have a great mother board, now if you wanna do something really cool, you can get the ASUS brand card instead of the EVGA and it unlocks a shit ton more features that I will post on tomorrow when im not brain dead
