Closed - Microphone volume problems

Type of issue: Hardware/Software.

Brief Description of Issue: As many of you may know my microphone is total crap. Barley anyone can hear me when I speak. I have to move the actual mic very close to my mouth to be audible. I tried raising the mic volume and when I close the settings it just resets the damn mic volume. So I am looking for some help before I go and buy a new mic.

Silly suggestion but try it in another port maybe?

No it is not a silly suggestion, however it still did not work. And the other one I sue which is not USB was not that much better. I suppose I do use the non USB headset more often. Sorry I should have made that clear.

tried control panel > hardware and sound > sound > recording > find your mic and adjust the volume there?

Nope. it still resets.

Do you use skype? It has a function where it automatically adjusts your microphone volume.

Go into the control panel, and find the "Speech Recognition" option. Once you have clicked on that, go into "Set up microphone". Follow the steps provided.
