I was perusing StumbleUpon today and came across this pretty cool video, its fairly old but after watching it it really got me thinking. Its a lecture (I suppose) given by Neil Tyson. Check it out if you have the time, even though I know its 12 minutes long. Believe me its worth it. Enjoy.

That is a really neat video. What could we possibly do against aliens who are that one step higher than us in intelligence? They could just steamroll right through us if they wanted to. I guess we could improve ourselves with a brain boosting implants but that is scary stuff.

With regard to the beginning of life part, I read this book a while back called "Seven Clues to the Origin of Life" by A.G. Cairns Smith that talks how life may have been started by replicating crystals. Very interesting for those interested in another view on the origin of life.
