I still think the Olympics should go back to amateurs only. Fuck all this professionals shit, sponsors, blah blah blah.....

It used to be about the best a country had to offer, from their everyday average citizens. I say we get on facebook and start a petition. They always seem to do so well on there.

pro players. such as nhl players for example are well paid. but they are still everyday people man. and they are still citizens of this country giving them as much right as anybody else to play. Aside from a busy schedule. they are not rich stuck up snobs like most would think. I've had the oppertunity to talk to Sidny Crosby for a whole 10 minutes at graduation. and he was like you or I with a few extra dollars.. And my close friend Brad Marchand happens to play for the Boston Bruins / AHL Providence Bruins... he likes titties, hot chicks, getting trashed and gaming it up lol.. so ya

The USA has a set up where a gold medalist gets a huge sum of cash.... Up here in canada they don't really get that. it all depends on the country really. But i do agree sponsors have taken over

Usually the Olympics are the best a country can offer. Other than most USA athletes, others do not get paid that much money for their talent. They earn most of their money by winning competitions during the year, like golf, but even then it's not much. In fact you could go as far as to say that the problem for most countries is that they don't pay their athletes enough money thus making it harder for anyone to consider chosing that path as a career.

If you're talking about hockey only Ford, well then you have a point. However, even though these are professional athletes and they get paid tons of money, they are still the best the country has to offer. If you make it to the NHL you're the best of the best it's as simple as that.
