It'll be in the Steam folder. Not steamapps or DOD, but the actual Steam folder that you open up after ProgramFilesx86 (or Programfiles, depending on your OS)

So it'll look like C:\Programfiles\Steam . Right in there, find that ClientRegistry.blob. If you care about preserving ALL data ALL the time, just rename it to something else, but in reality, you can delete it and it won't affect much of what you use. Up to you though. Once you do that, restart steam; it'll try to locate that file and when it can't, will redownload it.

Please exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the files in this folder except:

The \Steamapps\ folder, userdata, and Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the black and white Steam logo)

Restart your computer.

Then, launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.

Additionally, please complete this process for your installed game(s):

Close and then reopen Steam.

With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Small and I have gone through the following;

Verified game cache

Steam refresh (Deleting all files other than steamapps, steam.exe) (Includes clientregistry.blob)

Changed download regions

Ensured steam settings related to downloads were correctly configured.

Small even went as far as to completely reinstall the game between yesterday and today.

None of the above resolved the issue.

Ah man... I've had the same issue before I think.

Back in the day, simply backing up steamapps, reinstalling steam, deleting the fucked game from steamapps and copying the rest back in... worked.

Last time I tried it I didn't have such luck. Some games worked, others didn't.

What I ended up doing was:

Went into my DODS folder, and backed up all my downloaded maps, etc., autoexec.cfg and config.cfg.

Uninstalled ALL valve games. Entirely.

Checked through the steamapps folder for any mention of any valve games.

Load every other game in turn, see if it works. Any that didn't I uninstalled. (backing up any saves I wanted etc.)

Then, re-installed DODS and all the stuff I could be bothered to re-install.

Finally, carefully put back the downloaded maps back into their places in the DODS folder.

It was a massive pain in the arse, but it did eventually solve it.

Slightly cut-down solution

If you can't be arsed to backup stuff (and its not that necessary, since you can download all the DODS maps from our forums easily) then I'd just

Uninstall all source engine games.

Go into the steamapps

Re-install all source engine games.

Do the same for any other game that you can't get to work.

Solution that is most likely to work

NUKE THE LOT.

Essentially, uninstall steam and ALL the games on it, then go into the steam directory and remove anything that might still be hanging around, then

finally go and have a very long wank while you re-install everything.

I'm afraid that's not great help, but sometimes steam can get into a bit of a mess.

i seem to have resolved it for now , will update is anything changes

Please keep us posted on the situation. It may be worth trying some of the steps provided in this topic, or some of the steps I had gone over with you on Ventrilo the first time around.

If what solved the problem previously fails to work this time around, we will be happy to assist you further.

hmmm seems only to work when i move the steamapps file out , and when i move it back in dods stops working again

Did you ever set DOD:S (or any other source engine game) to run from an external location (outside of the Steam folder)?

It is a relatively new feature added to steam roughly a year (?) ago.
