I have an uncle who's farm that's been in the family for over a hundred years crosses the border, right in the middle of the one field there is one of those old monuments. They tried to make him pay land taxes on both sides and he said hell no, we were Canadian when this land was bought, it was all bought in Canada and this land is all Canadian till the day it leaves our family. But he can still cross into the USA with no border guards to work his own land :)
