Type of issue: I have no idea

Brief Description of Issue: Well this issue has been going on for about a week now. When I play on our server at noon or in the afternoon my ping is about 100 which is normal. Then in the evening/night my ping is skyhigh about 180. It has become an issue for me over the past week or so. 10 mins ago I joined our server and it was 185 and shortly after I joined the 505th server and it was normal about 130. It seems to be our server only and only at night. I have called my internet provider, switched between wireless and standart cable and nothing has seemed to work out. I hope someone knows more about this than me.

Please do the following; it is a way to track how you connect to the server and will help illustrate any potential problems for us to work from.

Assuming you are using Windows:

Click Start and click Run.

type: cmd

type: tracert 208.167.243.207

let it finish running until you're back to the c: prompt, then copy/paste all that info here.

A couple of things you might try to see if they make a difference at all are:

A. Turn off the steam cloud sync in the Multiplayer tab in Options

B. Check your "rate" value and make sure it is high enough like 50000

What is your upload and download speeds? Please can you run a speed test at http://www.speedtest.net/ when it is working good and when it is not and let us know the results?

Brown - I will post a picture of how it looks like when i'm connected to our DoDs server with a normal ping at around 100 with a total of 17 players - 16 players playing and 1 in spec. I will later tonight do the same when my ping is skyhigh/not normal.

While I was typing this message I stayed in game but alt-tab so I went out of game. When I went back to the game my ping was 84 and quickly went up to 100

The picture is taken on my iPhone 5 so I hope you can see what it says on the picture.

Heresy - I have a 40 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed.

I used the website you gave me and did a ping test to New York City and the results are: Ping 230 ms - 6,29 Mbps download and 3,74 Mbps upload speed.

Now this is odd - I made a new ping test to Richmond, VA and it says - ping 135 ms - 2,92 Mbps download and 4,55 Mbps upload.

This looks REALLY strange to me.

The same to you Heresy, I will post the exat same results later today when my ping is not normal on our server to see the difference.

The thing about the rate value - I have no idea what that is sorry!

And this is a picture with the not normal ping. My ping is around 170 now. I can see that there is a guy from Sweden (Rec. Lennings) with a ping at 190 which is not normal either and I talked to Willow ealier and she said something about her normal ping is around 40 and it's now around 100-110.

I would not go with Willow's ping, she has weird stuff going on with her connection periodically <_<

The "rate" command is a dod variable that you can set either via the command line or through your autoexec.cfg file. I would place it in your autoexec.cfg file. If you don't have one you can create one under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\cfg and it should execute automatically when you start the game. Just put the line:

rate 50000

I do have this already C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\cfg. But I'm confused about what to do next because there is a lot of maps in there already?

This kind of thing is not my strong side at all, it's a dark side for me.

Brown - did you have time yet to look at the 2 pictures? :lol:

I did! It does support what your net guy said, that the problem isn't in your house or immediate area, but I have been noticing issues with the pub lately on my end as well.

I'll do some more research and post whatever I find out here.

None of those 2 works at all.

I have an external ping going from California, New York, and Kansas to the server from dslreports.com. The graph is here at the link below. In some locations like California the ping is pretty steady where as in Kansas it has a rise and peaks throughout the day. I think that this shows more of an issue with the Kansas connection rather than the connectivity of the server since California is sound. In short I don't think that it is an issue with the server or the network it is connected to (at least so far).
