Name: Sands, Chris

Rank: Pvt

Reason for Resignation: Not the unit for me.

i just don't feel like i connect with anyone in this unit.

i feel that the word respect is thrown out a lot but i never feel any respect from most of the members and especially a lot of the NCOs, SNCOs, and Officers.

i feel that this unit is to big for me and i feel that someone such as myself could never advance with so much going on.

And i want to make clear that i am not quitting this unit to join another. quite the opposite. i feel that realism units are not for me and especially a unit such as this that is in my opinion to strict for me.

if you do see me with tags on i must have been tricked or convinced to join another unit and as of now i will not come to units to join but if one comes to me i will consider it.

i am sorry for any problems my leaving may cause but i feel that my presence won't be missed much.

Well, it's unfortuante to hear that you feel that way. I don't exactly know how we've been disrespectful towards you in any way during of your time here in the 1st MRB. We take respect very seriously, and to accuse everyone of disrespect is something that isn't taken lightly not to mention unprecedented. Considering the fact that you have been a part of this unit for barely a week, it's hard to imagine any basis for your accusation.

Although, I don't think you deserve an explanation, it is in my nature to clear things up.

With all do respect. This unit has been running and growing for almost a year now, and our Command Staff has been apart of the realism community for almost 4 years each. To say that we "preach Respect and fail to show it" is not only an insult to our members, I take personal offense to it as well. Even the newest members gain respect, but they have to earn it. If you felt that you are entitled to respect just because it is the word of our unit, you are gravely mistaken. Which is possibly why you have decided to leave the unit. Just to forewarn you, this is how things happen in the real world. You must show respect, dedication and humility to gain the respect and trust of a group of people as tightly knit as the 1st Marine Raiders.

If you feel you are so much better than us, that you can demand respect without showing any of your own, you are going to get your ears chewed out by anyone here that has common sense. As a realism unit that bases itself off of a real United States Marine Battalion, we pride ourselves in being accurate in almost all functions of said unit. We have hardass SNCOs and hardass Officers, deal with it.

As 2ndLt. Ford has so eloquently stated to me, if he has hurt any feelings, it is his job to weed out the losers from the incoming members, and he's glad to have done so.
