Question

Name: K. Gardner

Rank: Retired

Type of issue: (Software, Hardware, Steam, Not sure) Not Sure

Brief Description of Issue: I have a 9H SteelSeries USB headset that was working normally, till windows8 had a brain fart and I had to do a recovery.

After the recovery I reupdated all my drivers, did a virus scan, installed my programs and the SteelSeries Engine fresh.

Plugged my headset in and the SteelSeries app see it connect, Device manager shows my SteelSeries headset as a USB other device, but it does not change from my laptop speakers/mic over to the headset speakers/mic. Check the audio advanced settings and it does not even list the headset as an option.

Tried Google and had no luck finding any topics that helped for Win8, tons for Win7 tried a couple that made sense as a possible, no change.

So knowing that there is some very fine support techs here I am looking for your insight into this issue.

System is an Acer V5-552g laptop

Headset is an usb 9H steelseries (I've plugged it into another system and it works normally)

Within Device Manager can you right click the device listed as your headphones (other device) and click "Update Driver Software". Browse out to the SteelSeries install folder and see if you can find the driver there to force the driver load.

You sir are a god. I have sound and mic controls again!!

Thanks!
