He was a true American and all Allied hero. RIP. If you have not watched Wind talkers it is based of these guys and is a good WW2 movie. Does anyone know why they didn't also do code against the Germans? Probably would have been just as effective.

I think it was because in the Pacific, alot of important information was passed along the radio waves since field phones didn't work as well due to the weather/jungle, whereas in ETO, field phones were used for the HQ to HQ orders. That's my 2 cents worth, at least. (also because even in the pacific, the number of people were stretched thin).

And because the war in the East was just about over at the time.

Ahh good point. I guess it was just about over. I had never thought of that. They would have been useful tho early on...
