A question for Amazon users

I got an Amazon gift card. If I download a game that Steam also offers (rome 2) and add it to Steam will It still be the same as if i downloaded from Steam directly? IE friends currently playing, etc? Also why the hell does a Steam card cost worth $50 cost $54.95-$64 on Amazon? Thats got to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

The increased cost is because someone wants to make money.

Also if im not mistaken the code you get from the digital download from amazon is a code that you put into steam and it gives you the game

I think you will be fine if you get the key from Amazon and apply it in Steam. It looks like that is the method Barry described based on these reviews.

If you buy the new Amazon smart phone, you can take a picture of the game you want, and it'll let you buy it.... Apparently that's the main selling point for those...
