Brief Description of Issue: Can someone recommend a good free program to monitor my cpu temperature. I am having overheating issues I believe and would like to be able to target it to my cpu or gpu. Currently I run MSI afterburner but that monitors only the GPU temp and not CPU.

Core temp. i have this on my pc. i dont use it anymore, but i have and it hasnt caused any issues.

CoreTemp is good. I have used it quite a bit, and it has a widget for the Windows 7 desktop.

I find RealTemp to be just as good if not a little better. It shows/logs minimum & maximum temperatures at a specific time. It also supports limited monitoring of GPU temp.

HWINFO 32\64 is the best program for monitoring temps and clocks IMO look around for a tutorial on how to set it up. It monitors temp on everything in your system like HDDs, motherboards, gpu and even individual cpu cores etc.

If you have a problem with overheating, this can cause severe problems with your computer. Monitoring the temperature may not be enough, you have to get to the core issue as to why it is overheating. Unplug your computer and open the side panel. If their is a lot of dust inside on the fan, use canned air and clean it out. Dust buildup on fans is a problem that can cause a CPU to overheat. If this does not solve the problem, you may need to get a better CPU fan and heatsink to keep the CPU cooled. To better advise you on this I would need to know what type of CPU you have and the type of computer and motherboard. Newegg.com is a good source for buying good parts for your computer.
