That looks to be a pretty good build Drane. I built a similar computer back in 2012. Core i5 2500k, Asus MoBo, 16GB Gskill memory, Nvidia GTX 670, 120GB Solid state and 2TB Sata drive. It looks like we have similar manufacturers that we like. I might use this as a template for a build I am thinking about in the near future.

I'm jealous. I love building PCs. I need to upgrade mine sometime soon. :/

Great build. Only a few things I would want you to be aware of:

The 970 is a great card for your dollar, and I totally recommend it, but be aware of the fact that the last 0.5GB (of the 4GB) shares the same L2 cache as another 0.5GB chunk because the 970 has one less L2 Cache than the 980. This means that there is a slight performance bottleneck when really pushing the memory limitations of the card (~5%). Still an amazing card though, and they are working on a new driver to alleviate those issues to some extent. Just thought I would make sure you were up to date on the drama. source

The 212 EVO is an awesome cooler, and I see that you got the 'K' version of the 4690, so I am going to assume that you will be overclocking the CPU. In this case, the 212 EVO is perfect and you'll love it.

If you aren't OC'ing though, you should get the non 'K' version of the 4690 (save a few bucks) and if you live in an air conditioned home just use the stock fan that comes with the CPU. I've used the stock fan on 5 Intel processor builds with no over-clocking, and it hasn't been too loud or hot. Also, if you use the stock fan for the CPU, they come pre-smeared with thermal paste (I was so happy the first time I saw this!).

If it can get into the 80's(F) in your house, I would actually still consider the 212 EVO, just so that I could keep the CPU fan quiet.

Lastly, I hope you have a nice quality keyboard to go with this rig. :P It would be a shame to essentially put discount tires on a Mercedes! (Says the guy with a 10 year old, worn out, hand me down Saitek Eclipse II :D)

Oh, btw, you should check out this case. It is affordable, sleek, not too flashy, and was a joy to build in. The only weird part is getting the front plates off. You'll feel like you are doing something wrong. PC Part Picker link too

I did read about the card not being able to use the full 4GB but all the reviews i've read say it's the card with the most bang for your buck.

It can technically use the full 4GB, but it will suffer in performance by a small percentage. It is definitely still the best price per power currently.

Have you received all you parts now Drane? For future reference Pfc. Sky had a series of articles for last year here. Might be useful to others in building a new PC.

I don't have all of the parts but what I have so far is my OS, cpu heatsink, hard drive and memory. I'll be ordering more in a couple of days,

and more a week or two after that so I'm not spending 1000$ at once.

A little understatement I made here, or a BIG understatement on when i would be getting the parts. But at last I will be for-sure getting them in the coming weeks. hurray!

I always recommend to people, save your money and buy all of your parts at once, for one key reason.

Most companies have strict return or RMA policies. If you buy a motherboard, and have it for 6 months while you buy the rest of the parts, then go to build your pc and the mobo is a dud, you now cannot return the mobo due to the RMA time frame having ended.

While it is tempting to buy things as you get the money, avoid the headache and just save until you can afford it all at once.

I did decide to do it your way sort of, I bought half a while ago and now finally I have enough money for the rest of the parts. I just underestimated the pricing when I first went searching for what I wanted.
