Brief Description of Issue: I cannot get the map for Strand to work. I have downloaded it twice now and installed it in the proper place and it will not work. Every time I try to play it i get disconnected from the server. I cannot even create a private server with it.

Where did you download strand from?

I believe the map can be installed in either Day of Defeat Source/dod/maps or Day of Defeat Source/dod/downloads/maps. If you have it installed in one directory try switching it over.

Another thing you could try is to back up your custom content for dods, remove it and launch the game vanilla.

I downloaded it from te logistics office map index and installed it in the maps downloads file for Dods same place I put Camp Pendelton.

I just tried both .bsp files that are linked in the logistics office and they work fine for me.

Have you always experienced this issue with Strand? Or has it only started happening recently?

Try running DOD:S vanilla without any custom content, see if you have any luck with that. You can back up your custom content so you won't lose any of it. If you need any assistance doing this feel free to steam message myself.

Have you tried verifying your game cache? Or re-installing DOD:S?

Some information on your system might be helpful. Steven had the same type of problem with his old system. it was a dual core processor and an old graphics card. When he replaced his graphics card, it stopped. Has it done this since DOD was installed the first time, or did it start later? Please provide the following info:

That way you have the exact same map as the pub and the private.

It is a sony vaio laptop.

I have never had that map work for me.

I got Gougeon to completely re-install DOD:S today, Strand will still not load for him. All other custom maps he has tried works fine for him. I'll keep researching for now.

not that i have seen. When i try to create a private game with Strand I hit create and nothing at all happens.

That is what the console syas when I try to create a server using Strand as the map.

Are you placing the dod_strand.bsp file that is inside of the dod_strand.bsp.bz2 archive into the the maps folder?

I would assume so. I downloaded and unzipped all of the maps from the map pack at the same time, in the same file and every other map works just fine.

I would double check to be sure. That error is thrown when the file is not found or it is corrupt.

If someone could do this on their working map, that would be neat. If not, I'll do it with mine when I get home.

I do not know where you guys are finding that information for the map file. this what i did I uninstalled and re-installed Dods per Bradley. This made all of the previously installed maps disappear. I then down loaded the 1st MRB map pack out of the logistics office. I placed all of the maps in my downloads/map file. All of the maps work except Strand. With your last comment I do not know what you are looking for, Iam not that computer savvy. I need a detailed list of steps of how to get what you are looking for.

1. Go to this webpage.

2. Select dod_strand.bsp. (It's in dod/maps)

3. The webpage will then check your map file to make sure it is not corrupt or inconsistent.

4. Post the same information from the webpage once it's done as me and Woz have.

Alright. I got strand to work finally. I deleted and reinstalled the map a tenth time and it took. I got it load and work with no issues. Thnak you for your time and work on this issue.
